Hello, my name is Alex. I've recently decided that I want to pursue entertainment arts as a career and have spent the past few months practicing to improve my skills. I created an account here over a year ago but was too afraid to post any work out of embarrassment. After reading part of Geoff Colvin's "Talent is Overrated" I believe that the only efficient way to improve is to put in a lot of time and focus along while receiving constant feedback, so now I will finally start my sketchbook!
Here are some exercises from the past few months. The first few are blind contour/ negative space drawings. The rest are gesture drawings ranging from 30 sec to 3 minutes. Right now I'm reading Mike Mattesi's Force: Dynamic Life Drawing for Animators and would really like to master gestures before I move on to long poses. The reference materials I used are various video game concept art, Force, Pixelovely, and MJRanum's photo stock.
