    A Modest Rabbit's Sketchbook

I am making a sketchbook thread finally to basically monitor my own progress and get help from other artists. I really appreciate any and all input and advice, improving my skill level in drawing figures is my main goal. As a student currently, I am very determined to have a grade A+ portfolio by the time I graduate, which is within a year.

To start, I will just post some study-based sketches on the human figure. It is nothing interesting, but I love drawing the human form and I constantly am studying anatomy to improve my ability to do so and I also use photo reference a lot. Some of the drawings below are from live models, the hand drawings are of my own hand, and most of the muscle studies were referenced from Joseph Sheppard's Anatomy: A complete Guide for Artists. The very bottom sketches were referenced off master drawings.

While I'm gathering some more of my art for this thread, here is one of my most recent projects. It is something I first sketched out and then finished in Photoshop, made particularly for someone whom is very special to me. The character design is her own, I merely recreated it. Photo reference was used for the face.

I appreciate that boost of confidence Icedearth15876.

1st Image: I absolutely love creating and recreating monster designs. This is a species of monsters I created from my own imagination. I call them Lextrome. Their skin is a layer of ice and snow, and the second two versions have an obsession with hair. I really do not like how v2 turned out, I am in the process of recreating that one. This is a mix of traditional art and digital painting.

2nd Image: A digital painting in Photoshop, it was mainly done as practice of using textures. A photo reference was used for the face, everything else is from memory.

3rd Image: Fantasy portraits painted in Photoshop. Photo references were used for the faces on each.

4th Image: An illustration made for a class project. The character design is by a friend of mine, Kaitlyn.

5th Image: Digital painting done in Photoshop, photo references were used for the poses.

6th Image: Digital painting in Photoshop.

Thank you much for that compliment jamesession, though I know there's still a lot I have to learn.

Here's a bunch of traditional art, which I think I'm much better with than digital painting, though I prefer digital.

I very much appreciate the compliments, they're encouraging. My traditional pieces are all made with Prisma colored pencils, though the one with the lips I mixed Prismas with a little bit of Acrylic paint.

Below is a rough sketch for a character concept I'm currently working on. I'm going to paint it in Photoshop and see how it goes. 'Not that floating head though, it's weird... and random...

Good start man! Love the anatomy studies, that's really important. I think for that species you created a few posts above, you should link them characteristically somehow. To me, they all look like they belong to different species. Keep up the good work man

A very good start indeed! I'm quite impressed by the animal anatomy above. The traditionals are very nice as well. The one suggestion I have, is to draw from life. No one can ever really have too much of it.

Thank you very much, and I agree with the species thing, I'm going to redraw a few of them to make them look more alike.

I shall definitely be doing more of the satyr guy, he's one of my faves... as well as more life drawing, in which I do need more for my portfolio. Thanks again.

This is the same project as above with minor adjustments along with another one I'm currently working on below.
