This coming Monday, ConceptArt.Org and The Illustration Academy are going to be announcing The Art Department education program which will start this coming June. Below you will find the release, shared here first, so you can get a good idea about what we have been building this past year. The website will go live just prior to the release and we will begin sharing information on the two million dollar scholarship program.
To kick things off we are opening up a five week online course series available only here on conceptart.org. We are going to be covering an incredible amount of information and sharing a comprehensive overview of the program for any professional, student or hobbyist who wishes to better their portfolio. Students and professionals will be learning with a select group of the Core Instructors in The Art Department. More information will be coming available over the weekend and throughout the next two weeks.
We have much to share and we hope that you everyone interested will be able to attend the live or On Demand programs. We are working to take care of the cost of running this community while at the same time improving opportunity and education here. CA is growing up. SAN FRANCISCO – January 11, 2010 - Internationally acclaimed online art community, ConceptArt.org, today announced that it has teamed up with the award winning Illustration Academy (http://www.illustrationacademy.com), and its Visual Literacy Program (http://www.visualliteracyprogram.com) to offer a new alternative to standard art and design colleges, starting with a five-week introductory course series in February 2010 (http://www.theartdepartment.org). The February series marks the creation of ConceptArt.org’s newest accomplishment, The Art Department (TAD). Together with the Illustration Academy, they have assembled an innovative art education program, combining real world and online learning with hands-on workshops led by industry icons. In efforts to make art education more accessible, a stunning two million dollar international scholarship program will also be available to students based on talent and financial need.
Designed as the web’s first community site to learn art online and provide exposure for its members to gain industry attention, ConceptArt.org has reached out to millions of artists around the world through their innovative art and design symposiums (http://www.conceptart.org/workshop) and online, live-streaming classes. Its members, learning within the community and discovered by companies like Marvel, Massive Black, and Epic Games, have gone on to impact the world of art and entertainment. The Illustration Academy has gained much notoriety with the creation of their Visual Literacy Program and for its immersive educational workshops known for bringing up some of the most influential artists of the last 15 years.

Along with Illustration and Entertainment Design, TAD is running an in-depth foundations program and a traditional drawing based painting department, which artists learn to develop what they see, understand nature, and learn to create from imagination using traditional media like oil paint, charcoals, graphite, and water color. TAD mixes the traditional with the digital world and will help artists in nearly every country of the world.
Professionals from leading creative companies like Massive Black, Inc. (http://www.massiveblack.com) will be working with TAD to bring the most relevant industry information to students who wish to work in the entertainment industry.
The five-week series in February is suited for all students, from beginner to professional. Attended by artists and instructors from across the globe, the series will serve as a crash course of the full program offered by TAD.
