Great still life, have you tried painter?
I've noticed that you aim for traditional feel to your digital paintings, you may find painter way better for that purpose.
Have a great day!

Those still lives look excellent, really digging the variety of texture work especially, very convincing.
hey man, thanks for stopping by my sb.. and im definatly gonna subscribe to yours!
Your stuff looks rly awsome man!![]()
The still lives are incredible, and the way you use the brushes make it look so traditional..
I wish i could paint like that., but im a r-tard when it comes to PS and brushes
Would like to see moarrr!ROAR ..
Greetings!
Danny_K - Thanks man, just download some brush sets that look interesting to you and then just experiment.
inspectorsokar - Thank you!
maninmoon1 - Thanks!
in2eternity - Thanks, I will try.
hücumkedi - Well thank you very much.
Icecold - Yeah, I was planing to give painter another go, tried it a long time ago and didn't really like it, but it was when I was just learning to paint, so I really had no Idea what I was doing back then.
BlackDelphin - It's my new favorite brush that I used in that last painting and in most of the new ones. Its a big soft brush made of many tiny sharp dots, so the color stays sharp, but edges are nice and soft.
I was longing for a brush like this one for a long time, but always all the soft brushes made the colors look muddy and plus they had a nasty digital feel to them. I never use smudge tool, Its always custom brushes.
cgaddict - Thanks for droping by!
RBeek - Thank you very much!
Two new cast studies. Ref from - ( http://philippefaraut.com/store/reference-casts.html ). I know it would be ten times more useful to do these from life, but I don't have the funds to do that right now.
New geisha photo study.
And finally some personal stuff - wip of my entry in CGhub's Illustrated Pinocchio

Your value studyes are always so solid! Love them! Thank you for the link also.
It is very useful.
I like how the geisha turned out this time also. Much more soft edges than last time.
That brush idea sounds interesting! I think i might give it a try myself, see where it leads. Never tought of combining those two.
yeah these cast studies are very good man ! you did a great job in capturing the light in those photostudies aswell![]()
good work emil, everything looks solid. Was waiting for a personal pieces of yours, looking forward to see it develop.![]()
Emil, my friend, how you doing?
Sorry for not visiting this sketchbook earlier.
I feel a bit ashamed. Your skills are, much above
than anyone could wish for himself.
Can you please share some tutorials, links
or something about oil paintings with me, cause
your paintings are fascinating.
I have little, close to no experience with oils
but I would like to learn paint with that technique on
canvas and to sell my paintings.
Thank you for sharing your art with us.
Great work, and I dont think you need to apologiese for drawing from photos, everyone does it at some point. keep up the good work
hey bro!I come see your works,Hands and feet of practice terrific! I think you learned a lot from! Colour of practice is also very valuable, your progress very big! Please keep your good work, let us work together!
thanks for visiting me Emil, have to say i love what i see.. you have a great control on volume and lighting. There´s nothing bad in paint from photos, just keep saturating the tones a bit. Sometimes i see there are a bit pale colors, in photostudies overall. Also i like a lot your textures& brushstrokes.
kep up the awesome work
BlackDelphin - Thanks, I really tried to keep a good balance between hard and soft brush strokes on that geisha study.
Yeah, that link is great, they have really nice collection of casts, it's just a shame that the head casts are so awful and disturbing.
SnobbyOo Thanks man.
Fetsch Thanks mate, as you see not so good.
LtPlissken Thank you very much for all the kind words, I'm definitely not at a level where I should be making tutorials, my skills and knowledge are not there jet.
When it comes to oils I would just suggest starting simple, little still lifes or some environments from life. Buy a set of cheap oils at the beginning and just experiment,
they take time to get used to, especially when you come from digital background, and use big brushes in the beginning with thick strokes of oil.
maninmoon1 - Thanks, I will.
LAL - Thank you, those cast studies definitely helped, but I dont feel that my progress is good enough.
Ricardo Robles - Thank you Ricardo, colors are definitely one of my many weak points, I never cant seem to get them bright and lush enough, they just end up muddy and stiff.
Anatomy studies from ImagineFX, new cast study from the same site as the last two,
and unfinished version of train wreck that is my pinocchio illustration, colors and composition are just a mess, so I won't waste more time on that damm thing.

Hey man, thanks for stopping by my thread earlier, really made my day. Totally admire your work. Lovely anatomy studies in the latest post, very analytical.
The pinochio pic is obviously not a trainwreck at all, reminds me of Vermer with the soft light and the palette. Maybe try pushing the blue in order to get the complementery color conversation going more heh..
Anyways, very cool, keep posting!
t
Pinocchio is looking through the window, and he is
thinking with his wooden brain.
Tonight he is going to paint the town in red.
He well take a sharp kitchen knife and go out to
shed some human skin.
Geppetto has already been chopped
up to pieces, and his flesh is hanging in the attic,
His bones are being cooked up in a huge rusty boiler.
"Ah, what a beautiful and happy world this is"-
says Pinocchio to himself as he stares through the snowy
window, with his plastic sugary eyes.
nice stuff emil!
great work in here dude. i really like the still life studies, and the anatomy work is nice too! keep it up man!

I've really enjoyed looking through your SB. The still lives and photo studies are quite impressive, but I would like to see the casts being a bit more polished.
Took me a while to work out the medium as those brushes are something else.
when I look at works like yours I'm really feel that I should work more and more!!!
Great works, tecnically and expressively!
thanks for stopping by![]()

In other news - I'm now open to any freelance, commission and job offers.
i really like that bird photostudy ALOT! Especially with the brush that you chose to do it with.
One good thing to do is to check your image without color. I dont think you're quiet getting in your darkest darks in your shadowed areas. IM finding that alot of it is falling in the midrange still. If you simplify your value scheme to 3 or 4 values and focus on making your edge types (soft, hard, lost) distinct things will pop more.
Keep it up. i defenitely like what you're doin here!
man im so glade u commented on my SB so i can see urs.. this is amazing SB... ur paintings look like oil paintings although they r digital.. i think ..
studies.. anatomy.. sculpture paintings.. love them all.. i wonder if u did oil before ? did u?
i love to do everything and learn everything... i hate to be cornered in one place.. i believe u can be anything u want... Your mind is limitless... check out my sketchbook ... u will find a bit of everything

Cool sketchbook. I really like lots of focus on texture in your studies. It really makes your paintings lively.
I don't see much personal/imagination work though. Creating your own pieces goes way beyond just technical skill or just observation so I wouldn't neglect that part (unless observation painting is your primary goal). Also the tightest anatomy study won't do much if you don't really test your knowledge. Of course you might just not post much of that on the web but it's always cool to see how studies affect the way you draw.
