Saskia - Its great to hear from you! I follow your blog but will you make a sketchbook here? I guess they are kind of similar, but I would love to see it! ranranRUUUUUU!!

ZhouPeng - When I first started I was pretty nervous, but it all goes away once concentration sets in, then you get used to it. Thanks man!

Thank you for the comments everyone.

    First two from the train
3rd face studies from a hair mag
    last 2 from my imagination.

For the last WIP, Im gonna take a time out to do some studies before continuing. She has one balloon but uncertain as to where I will place it.

Hey, it's nice to see your work on this forum. I've been watching you elsewhere for a good while now and I really enjoy seeing your sketches. Knowing you produce some of them while you're commuting just gives me more respect for you

    Keep it up.

    konnichiwa!!!

balloon definitely in front of her (on the left). smoke/clouds are blowing that way, plus it would help composition. if it was behind her (on the right), the piece would be tooootally right-heavy and you'd need something else to balance it out on the left. balloon on the left makes a nice circle and leading line to lead up to the cloud and then back down again.

about art peoples to meet with, you should get in touch with "Tensai" here on the forums. not sure where exactly he is now, but he's in western tokyo. we used to meed up back in the day, when i was living there too. besides that, search for life drawing sessions there; there are some, you just have to find them. harajuku on a weekend is also a good place to draw, cause of the cosplayers and the people taking their pictures. just, when it's warm out. g'luck man, welcome to the .Org, and i hope you have fun. New Tokyo Sketchgroup (dunno if it's dead or not, i left 2 years ago) should have some info on things that are going on around tokyo (you'd have to check to see if they're still current though). give it a check...i'll see if i can dig it up anywhere, but you might find it first. anyway, take care dude!

I like your newest mechs, those soldiers look tough and convincing. I admire the character design in the one dated 12/6.

What is your job now? I would think that someone as skilled as you would already have a job drawing. Is Japan very competitive in that way?

    Saskia - koreka?
Damn, I missed out then! I really love the balance of style and realism in your work! Its something I hope to achieve in my own work. Keep inspiring!

Seithe - It is an honor. Thanks

purb36 - thanks for the input. Ill finish it up by the next post. I had been going to a gathering called Dr. Sketchy but was unable to go once I got the job Im at now. There they had a clothed model usually dressed in a burlesque style that we would all life draw. Ill be looking into that new tokyo sketchgroup. Thanks for the help! How long did you stay out here in Japan?

MoKhi - Im currently a "2D designer" which is really just a title. I spend most of the time doing 3D these days. It really depends on the game though. Interface, 3d modeling, texture, animation, light clothing/character design, pixel art, bg stuff are some of the things I do there. Id much rather be drawing all day. From what I know, most character designers are freelancers. The ones who stay at a company are either also an art director (Tetsuya Nomura) or they get absorbed into doing many other task (Edayan, Daigo). It seems just as competitive as anywhere else...its just the styles are so different.

unnamed.device - Ive been slackin on the post. Must get my shit together!

    Thanks for the comms!

    First 2 - train sketches
    3- hand studies from Bridgman
    4- faces from my head
    5- head study from photo
last- Pretty much a fan art of my wife's fashion design.

    7th - stylized head study
