New Work on last page!!/ Updated 12/7/2012

These represent a small portion of my output for galleries in 2009. All paintings are oils and painted alla prima (in one sitting) which for me means no more than 4 hours. All are finished work and all were sold this year in galleries. I am currently represented by ten galleries in the USA.
Hopefully by midyear next year I can post some of my production art in games which is 3d and digital although I manage to sneak in some oil paintings where I can.

The boat, the mountain lake, and the surf pics especially are outstanding. You've captured the bright, slightly misty air of the ocean perfectly. The last two images are also pretty good. I like the purple cast shadow in the street on the second-to-last painting. I don't think the church or the first mountain scene are as strong in terms of brushwork and color choices. In the forest stream painting, the perspective feels off, and it also feels as if the land is hovering above the stream.

I like the more finished looking nature/landscape paintings (i.e., the mountain lake). I also like the way you've done the ocean waves.

Thanks everybody for taking a look. I agree some of the paintings are flawed; it is a product of my ability, or lack there of, when painting outdoors,to capture the scene in the short amount of time I have before the light changes working alla prima. It is part of the challenge and frustration of painting directly from life, and what keeps me coming back to it.

my favorite is the boat .. really nice , captures the moment very well .. love the expressive brushstrokes in the otherwise "dull" sky .. the water looks real and it's physical form looks very natural .. also very convincing pallette .

hey man these are great. in reading your posts, it became pretty apparent to me that you've been around the block, and know what the hell you're talking about. looking at these pics affirms my suspicions.
these are all really well observed and executed. in particular i like the 1, 3 and 8. great colors...

and again, id like to personally thank you for all the great info you've been posting around here lately. its extremely valuable info from an artist who's obviously been doing this for some time. i look forward to seeing more of your work.

    Updates

A few more pieces from last year, all oils on linen, painted for galleries and sold. 3 and 5 are studio pieces, the others were painted from life, alla prima.

I always wonder, suppose I had VR goggles that I could wear while hiking outdoors, that would make the world look like this... Would I get used to it? Would it provide sufficient information to navigate without tripping over stones, or branches, or bumps in the ground? Would I think it was beautiful, or would I get bored with it after a while?

Beautiful work with the water and shadows in snow. I see you've mentioned painting these outdoors but it seems mixed as far as the regions which supplied the geography. What draws you to paint landscapes so much?

    Cammander,

Thanks for asking. The geography is so varied because galleries are very regional now, they all want local scenes only a few of my galleries take work from anywhere. I travel most of of the year painting for them, which I enjoy. I still do a couple of projects a year for games and some book covers and studio work.

Love your painting !... I especially feel attracted to the boat one. I think the color and mood is nicely depicted. Your painting have a certain impressionistic feeling to it, with all the vibrant color and juxtaposing complementaries. Love it!

There is a wealth of beautiful pieces in here. And your restrictive time frame only makes the results more impressive.

Time to update the page. I've been doing a lot of 3d lately and it has cut into my painting time.

These are really great! Some of them are really, really great. I love the one with the fish, you've caught the half-transparent, half-reflective nature of calm water perfectly!
