ExiledRed- Oh, I'm not giving up on learning to be a good artist. I've just decided I no longer want to be a Graphic Designer, not because I think I'm a bad artist or that GDers are not appreciated- but because I want my main career path to be in software engineering. I'm planning to be an amazing programmer- and then an amazing artist.

It's secondary now is all. Thank you for the insight though. I appreciate it very much so.

I really like your style! Your colors are really well done and your use of anatomy is pretty good. I want to see more figure studies! I want to see more posts in general you seem to have a lot of talent, keep up the good works!

good luck with becoming an amazing programmer and an amazing artist, It'd be quite a feat to excel in both, but I'm sure if you're determined you'll get there.

I do a bit of both, but at 37 I'm starting to accept that If I continue to do both, I'll never be amazing at either. When I'm scripting, the left half of my brain extinguishes the right, and vice versa when I'm doing creative work, so I'm limiting my code to web languages these days, although a simple project in AS3 will still kill my sketching dead.

I take Graphic Design classes as well as programming classes- and such activities that involve mathematics and logical examinations are, at times, difficult for me to go by. It's going to be a challenge for me- being a more artistic person rather than a mathematical one- but like you said, If I find time to practice, I may at least excel at one.

Self Note / Reminder :

It hit me just now that compared to others- I lack the dynamic aspect in my work- detail- emotion- and creativity even. I skipped a vital step and moved on, too quickly, to colors/values. It doesn't matter how well an image is colored or how interesting the atmosphere is when there is no emotion in the poses and no meaning in the characters/environment. So, I've decided I need to spend a greater deal of time on things such as this- rather than just trying to cover something dull with- uooo- colors and - uooo- lighting.

You're doing an awesome job here! If I were to tell you to work on two things right now, I think they would be composition and to work on increasing your comfort with pushing value. Keep up the hard work!
