    Team CHOW III: NEBULA

When the competition seems to ready to start, a dark shadow covers the battlefield and strangely colored lights shine in the sky. There´s another unexpected guests... they are four, they´re evil, they´re dark... they are
    NEBULA

    and... they come in peace!

Wow, Kostas these are really good. Pity you aren't on our team. I guess now we are going to have to crush you and your team.

Hello everyone! hope finally we are all available to begin to put im common some ideas.
As I know, the brief ot this chow isn´t out yet, then we can go advancing the work and doing some teamwork. Like Morgado suggested in the e-mail, we can set a periodicity to keep the team in contact via CA (and e-mail ofc), and use this topic for post sketches.
It would be good if each one make his suggestion about the type of character he would like to develop, and later we can vote. It don´t needs to be super deep, first we can do something light, just to practice.
    My suggestions:
    -Kinds of Mages.
    -Consistent extraterrestrial forms.

hola ricardo in case you didnt know the topic is in the character chow forum and not in the team chow sub category.
    The theme is TAROT deck
and there is a list that we must choose what card we will do
    go check

    see ya

    Thanks King.
Since when do you know about the topic?
I already signed up our team in the registry thread, I had no idea of this was necessary
I already elected two cards for me, (we´re definitely late on this), so if you want you can do the election too and keep it´s not going out of time.
Morgado lets me the election of his two cards, so go and choose yours.
    I´ll see all you here!

i think i am gonna change the style to a darker and more mystical one, cause i think it fits better the whole tarot thing, even if we aim in the characters.
    having fun for now

really cool Kostas! thanks for being filling the thread!
I was thinking in do something more diffrent than our detailed style, some thing like the medieval drawings, much more simple and stylized.. I think it will make us work in another direction, which is the opposite of we´re comfortable with... and it fits much more better in the tarot subject. what do you think?
let´s see if I can put something tonight.
    see you !

About this subject I told about, some ideas. A little google brief, just for bring examples.
what if we catch this aesthetics, but taking it into a futuristic/steampunk mode like kingkostas said? it´s only an option, i wanna hear your opinion
a sketch, of course we can make it more ellaborated

    jozulus thanks mate

Ricardo nice refs.I dont have a problem but we must not forget that here we design a character more than designing the tarot card.So if we can manage to imply all the needed design elements in this style then we will not have any problem

Sorry for not showing up yet, have been rather busy.

Cool work overall I see here! Ricardo has a point, we should ref to real tarot cards, in terms of their illustration's surreal nature and symbolism. Yeah sure we only have to design the characters, but in the end, we will have a full illustration for each card, so the more thought we put into that aspect as well, the better

I'll post a warmup sketch tomorrow

    hey!
Well I think that style would suit me aswell since I'll be drawing an empress and a princess haha.
I would only suggest that if we do it as medieval we give it a modern look haha

King: that sketch is looking pretty sweet!!
Ricardo: in this last sketch, I think it would help if they look at each other hehe. and adding simbols like roses ...red wine?! hehe, an opened condon bag floating around and "palomas" (sorry can't remmebr the word in english*birds) these are just ideas , I wouldn't mind if you don't take them

I am still stuck with two pics I have to finish by this week , I hope to get them done soon enough so I can start sketching

Cool composition Ricardo! Perhaps the bodies could be really connected physically, being just one?

Regarding the style, I'm all good for the steampunk.

Inspired by King's pose of the Hermit, a quick sketch of The Magician. I think we could go for a more graphical visual style like this, not too many colors, hard contrasts, etc. I didn't pay much attention to the design yet, focused more on mood\iconography.

I think you guys could hop in to MSN regularly, to better discuss the designs, and organize ourselves.

Finally, this site is worth checking out for inspiration.

EDIT: I prefered your previous sketch King

    nice one mate.
I just tried to change the style a little approaching the tarot cards style that we wanna depict.
I am not standing on the pc that much now(i just leave it open) cause i study for the exams, and thats the reason why i dont step into msn now.

If we gonna do something exactly like these tarot cards i think it will look like rough work and work in progress.Thats why i think i am getting inspired by gustave dore art
    http://dore.artsycraftsy.com/
This dark mystical feeling is lovely

    lets keep up

btw i have checked the link with the tarots , very nice to learn the story

Well we could still set a time to meet online. I'm available most of the time, except saturdays

Which cards exactly are you refering to?

Gustave Dore's work gets its mystical feeling due to high contrasts.

Anyways, I worked a bit more on the last mage image, because I thought some things looked wrong. Still need to make him more steamy!

And 3 sketches for the Four of Pentacles. Its a card about holding on to your wealth, egoism, etc.
