rather than shoulders too wide, hips to squashed
    lovely work man!
perhaps try it in stages, like, gesture from ref, (lines i mean), gesture from mind, adn then go into color and whatnot, maybe do gesture twice to nail it, so you have the overal feeling in your head?
iono just a thought, keep at it man! when your online next we'll studydome! D:<

eekolite: Thanks! You should try it out. Feel like I am learning more with them (also it is humbling because you realize how much more you suck than you thought).

Trisquel: Thank you! I don't mean to discourage anyone haha. Age shouldn't matter really, so we should all try to ignore it as much as possible (although it can be hard to do...I tend to obsess over other people my age being better than me). But I try to ignore it. That's why I don't usually go around shouting about my age--I've seen other young artists do that and all that happens is they get "oh, you are so good for your age". In the end it doesn't matter though. Will they get hired over somebody else because they are younger? No. It's all practice and age shouldn't be a factor.

ryan: Thanks! yeah, they are tough. Gonna do more line ones like we did tonight.

Okay, couple more double studies. God, I really need to do an illustration soon. I'm probably boring the shit out of everyone by posting these, but whatever haha.

    ryan: Thanks man.

    parsakoira: Thank you!

matty: Thanks, but I wouldn't go that far.

xinranliu: Thanks and yes, they are a great exercise.

I'll see about posting pencils later, so for now a couple really quick half finished digis. A few were done with ryanoir and a la bapsi, so check out what they did.

So the car in the previous post was the first I have ever painted...a la bapsi forced me out of my comfort zone. It was a lot of fun, so here are two more cars from photo and one from imagination.

lancer: Thanks for the crit! It's a bad habit of mine...I need to paint at higher opacity i guess.

Jason: Wow thanks a lot for the compliment! I remember when I first joined the site how much I looked up to you, so now it is a bit weird or surreal hearing this.

    adamsimons: Thanks!

Ryan: Haha thanks! Next studydome I'll make you do a car!

So I spent the day in Montreal and got no art done...but on the drive back I took some mental notes on the lighting just as the sun had gone below the horizon. A few hours later now I'm like "Oh yeah! I should do a painting before I forget."

This was probably the quickest painting I have ever done...less than 5 minutes I'd say, but for some reason I am quite pleased with it. No refs at all.

    Hey there!

In your photo studies, try not to let them encourage strange angles. Sometimes you have to fight what you see in order not to get your planes all funky. Speedo Guy is what I'm talkin about. Check out his shoulders to hips

    Good luck!

Velocity Kendall: Thanks man! Cars ARE hard (but fun).

Ryan: Thanks, it is your brush set haha, so they better be good brushes!

Pamz1e: Thank you, we'll see about meeting up when you're back in town.

kiwigarbage: Thanks for the crit, but I'm not sure what you mean really...care to explain a bit more in detail?

Okay, just a couple quickies. First a 20 minute studydome with ryanoir and skMOP in which I totally messed up the proportions. Next a half finished (not gonna finish it though) study after Sam Brown. Decided I will learn to draw robots, so expect more such studies and then some from imagination once i get the hang of it.

Also, no updates for a couple days. Turns out I need to finish my portfolio for art school and send it off by Friday...I am so screwed...

Okay. I finished my portfolio. And got it mailed. But oh god. It was awful. I have never been so tired in my life.

Here are finally some pencils. Some are old (like a couple weeks old!) and others like the still lifes were done today.

Really great, focused and solid. Make sure to watch the balance of your figures, some of them seem like they're going to fall over such as the very last one. Think about a line running through the figure where the center of gravity is. If you're drawing live models, you could get a bamboo skewer (just a really thin stick) and overlay it on the model. They're great for sight measuring too.

    Keep it up, man.

SenEnd: Haha I'm a chronic procrastinator... I can't help it! But yeah, it's a really bad habit. I'll see you at Sheridan hopefully.

    lancer: Thanks man!

eekolite: Thanks for the crit! I see what you mean, and will keep an eye out for it. Not to really make excuses, but I checked, and the mirror I used for the last figure has everything tilted funny at an angle, so my drwaing was actually fairly accurate to what I saw. But yeah, I should have noticed and fixed it.

    Dana_T: Thank you!

    Adam Simons: I will!

Ryan: I better get in haha!

skMOP: Thanks! I'm applying to Illustration at Sheridan College.

Okay, so just one pic for today. After seeing algenpfleger's latest stuff on his blog I noticed two things. First, he brought his studies to a photographic level of finish. Second, he used the polygonal lasso tool a lot to get really crisp edges. So I decided to do a photo study and spend a bit more time on it and focus on edges. I am quite pleased with the result.
