"Hello boys and girls! Once again, we saved something special for team chow. This is a liiittle different then what we usually have going on, so please pay close attention!

This month, Team Chow will be attempting to create it's very own Tarot Deck! For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a deck of cards very similar to the usual 4 suited deck, but with 22 extra cards called the 'major arcana'. The four suits are also different : Swords, Cups, Wands, and Pentacles/Coins. In the following post there will be a list of all the cards.

For those of you who don't know much about it, please allow me to send you to a couple of sites to read up on it.

Though often used as a form of divination, we'll be approaching it from a strictly design perspective. Each card is meant to tell a very particular tale (though this tale often depends on the reader) and has many symbols and meanings attached to it. The goal will be to do each card as a character-based (this is still chow) illustration to illuminate the meaning of the card. However, the specific meaning and the symbols will be up to you. We will, however, be following mostly to the Rider-Waite deck, with the exception that we will be using Princess instead of Page."

Here are the Rules

1. Your team will choose TWO CARDS per person to illustrate. So, a 2 person team needs 4, a 4 person team 8, etc. This is the minimum requirement, you may choose more.
2. You may only take major arcana for half your cards, please choose Lesser Arcana (The Suits) for at least half. Bonus points for those who do mostly Lesser Arcana!
3. You will post your choices in this thread. I will allow 4 teams per card. First come, first serve. If we get all the cards covered by at least four teams each, I will then be open to letting you pick cards that are already full. We want to make sure to get a full deck!
4. Please make sure that your files can be sized down to 9 cm by 15.5 cm (or 3.543 x 6.1 inches) at 300 dpi. I'm exploring the option of seeing if we can get it printed, so please make sure your work is print-quality, or please write "OPT OUT OF PRINT" when you submit your work so I know you're not interested in having your cards printed as part of your deck.
5. PLEASE DO NOT START DRAWING UNTIL JANUARY FIRST! Right now is the time to get everyone's cards assigned and start brainstorming, but please don't start drawing as it's unfair for the other teams.

I took the 0 The Fool - and Knight of Sword'sbecause those characters are very different types of card and personality.Which is the most interesting for me of the Chow Topic's so now that .I pick mines ill be waiting for your picks because there be gone before you no it so .Get to picking them sucker's up have fun guys and girl's...GO BYM!!

hey guys and gal well sorry i havent been on again had about 9 different xmases to go to this year but well to kick things off i have tried to choose the hermit and the four of swords for the tarot cards hopefully ill get them but will post some ideas possibly tonight if not tomorrow, i also think for our "theme" we should do sci fi tarrot cards what you guys thinK?

Undeadartist: Sci fi? Im not sure... I already had this whole Revelations style planned in my head. I'm not against it, and if everyone else agrees I will do it, but I dont feel totally "with" it.

Maybe a mix between the two to see how it goes?

Because i really have never drawn revelation type stuff but i could try it out with some sci fi element's on top of that and see how it comes out...

I just feel sci fi versions are going to be pretty thick on the ground soon, and we need to stand out. I suggest Oriental (A mish-mash of Tibetan, Hindu, Chinese and Japanese)
or Lovecraftian (look it up). Both of those are unlikely to be taken and open up some interesting avenues of exploration.

hey guys yea the whole sci fi was just an idea i got a new one though i want to try and get everyone away from were we are comfortable with we could do renissance like da vinci or i had this idea for some reason collonial (like american revolution style) sci fi, but idk mordus no offense or anything but i see the horror stuff in your work and i think we should try something none of us are good at that way we can make this is more of a challenge and learning experience for us but its official i got the hermit and four of swords soooo once we figure out our style ill start out some sketches

im open to more ideas and sorry guru but i dont have a Aim or Msn

maybe we could also look into ventrillo?

I just thought tentacles might be fun to draw, even if they might not be interpreted as...mutant-y o.O Wasn't sure what would haha. I experimented with flames and junk too

I vote Renaissance. Plenty of scope for development and flexibility.

Well, I have no school or work until January 11th, so I'm free pretty much whenever... haha. Other than random activities I may have with friends, and my habit of sleeping in until 12, I'm pretty open haha.

I'm also open to the subject. I've always wanted to try something Steampunk, but since it's so crazy popular now I don't know if many other teams would go that direction. I've never done Sci-Fi, but I'm willing to try any genre haha.

Yea i never tried Renaissance era or steam punk stuff before it will be hard work to learn it and draw it.So how are we going to set this up with vent?

Maybe we could do some medieval stuff or something in ancient setting Egypt etc....

hmmm well its been a long time since i used vent i mean so if someone could set up some kind of server or what not thats private with a pass and everything and pm everyone about when they want to set up everything, since mordus cant do that with us and i have no idea how to set one of those things up its down to M and guru im open to anytime as well im usually up from 7 am to 1-2am soooo yea but i had a new idea combine steampunk and renisance?

Haha yeah I'm pretty familiar with Vent

We already have a paid for server and everything, soon as my boyfriend wakes up from his nap I'll check with him and make sure I can make an extra channel for us or something.

From there, I'm sure you guys will be free to use it whenever you want. I'll try to make it a habit to always have it open whenever I'm at the computer as well, for whenever someone will pop in.

Soon as I get the go-ahead, I'll PM you guys the server name and info to log into it.

It's pretty easy to download, just go to the vent website and download whichever client suits your computer, and then I'll give you login info later on. And that's about it haha, I don't remember the download being complicated. The only issues I've ever run into with vent is adjusting the settings if your mic happens to not work.

Okay guys we are all set! I'm going to PM you the login info now

When you connect and login, I have my own channel near the bottom called "Alex's AFK Channel" (inside joke). Obviously I'll be Alex sitting inside of it haha. It has a password also, which should be Rootbeer (not sure if capitals matter, just change it accordingly if they do)

Like I said, I'll try to make it a habit to be in vent whenever I'm on the computer

Oh, if I'm in another channel with other people I'll try to pay attention if someone logs into my channel and switch over

Does the password work to get in my channel? It does it automatically for me, so I only ever used it once hah
