First, a big thanks and hello to this newly assembled team. Hopefully, with a lot of work and perseverance we'll make it to the other side of this contest. That being said, I would like you guys to take a second and introduce yourselves, so we can get to know each other beyond our sketchbooks, and, to get the ball rolling, start up on this week's CHoW. Now, considering it is X-mas season, I'm not expecting these to be fully finished (bonus points if you do though). What I am looking for is a bit of exploration and fun. When January rolls around I want us to be able to hit the ground running.

hunchback-awesome line quality, and I dig the egg shaped pose, great repetition

So, this is my first thumb for The Dragon Egg, the composition is pretty lame, but I kind of like where the color scheme is going. I'll see if I can throw down one or two more compositions.

Wow...that really explains a lot, you're quite talented for your age (hell, you're talented for any age), apparently it's hard work from an early start. What's Ottawa like? I'm from Texas, so I'm guessing we have a different view of winter and summer.

To keep the ball rolling, my name is Corey and I'm currently living in Austin, Texas. I am 26 years of age, and have a wife and two year old son. I graduated with a BFA in painting back in '06 from a small state university. Just about everything I've learned has been through life drawing and the likes. I've only been doing illustration and digital since July of this year, it has pulled me out of a three year slump since graduation (I had only created a handful of pieces since I graduated). So, I'm still a bit new to working form imagination. I come from a very optical approach, so it's been a little slow in picking structural approaches back up.

Hopefully, I'll be hitting up graduate school sometime next year. Ultimately, I would love to teach at a collegiate level. But, we shall see.

My turn, I suppose. My name is Jovian Meissner. I'm from a small town in Southern Alberta (Canadia). I'm 17, and currently working on my last year of highschool, while studying to be a concept artist/illustrator. I've been drawing for a long time. Started to "take it seriously" more recently. Once I graduate from highschool, I plan on studying/working for a year to save up for a move down south. Oh, and the network card in my computer is fucked, so this was all written from my ps3. I figure I'll be back online within a week. I'll post some sketches from friend's houses when I get the chance. Pasta.

Hey team! nice start! The full name is Petter Gunnarsson, I live in Malmö, Sweden. I just moved into an apartment with two friends, and out of ye old parents house(s). At my moms apartment i had me tablet, and so my access to the tablet and computer will be pretty limited... I'll try and get enough time to get some real work done. Anyways! Im 21 years old.. uhm.. im allergic to dust! i think mexico is a cool country. I want to grow a long beard to go with the long hair, but my facial hair is still to weak. that should cover it!

i look forward to this thing!

Jovian M- How far down South are you looking to go?

gunnarsson- Sorry to hear about your beard problem, maybe you can find a donor...though I hear the transplants can be risky...

Just to keep things interesting, we'll be running a five man squad! Enter the Spaniard.

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!!!! (Man, that never gets old )

Ok, where to start... First things first: Thanks for letting me join the team, I'm sure we can make pretty nice things together

Secondly, my name is Enrique García but only my mum calls me that and only when she's angry, so Quike (/kike/) will do perfectly (has been doing a lot of time already). I'm 29, I work as an aerospace enginner (yes, I'm a rocket scientist) and I've been drawing since I'm able to remember, but it hasn't been till this last year that I have taken a bit more serious approach to it, mainly to learn proper foundations. I'm into music, art, photography, comic books, games and mostly any geekdom I can lay my eyes upon.

Oh, and I have the facial (and body) hair that could help gunnarsson for sure...

anyway, to keep things in topic.. here's my sketch for this week's ChOW

Quike- Tag! You're the old man in the group now! Glad to have you on board. Great costume design and pose on the current sketch. The only thing design oriented that bothers me is the cloth harness holding the egg, doesn't seem secure enough.

My current doodlie-sketch for Dragon Egg. Rifting off of hunchback's sketches. Mostly playing with shapes atm, I'll probably work a few designs off of it. Trying to go for a spindly legged, prepubescent asexual figure.

I'm trying for the atelier, in SF. As for the colouring, the values from the neck down look like they were washed out, a little. Still dig it, though.

Tag! now you sleep when I get up

Love the quick colour man!! (yup, I say colour, and mum and other brit expressions...)

About the colours on the second design, I think that the colour scheme is a bit too bloody.. in a first impression looks as she/he would have just given birth to the egg.

That doesn't mean I don't like it, though..

Gods, I used to be the youngest one

hala- we'll sure the hell try!

....you guys disappear this weekend or what?

Anyways, I thought for the next two weeks we could work on self portraits, under the theme Exquisite Corpse. Try to go with a full length view, but render it well enough for a bust shot. If this sounds good or if you'd like to suggest a different project, let me know.

Just don't have a computer right now. It'll be fixed in 9 to 11 days. That second iteration looks a lot better, for sure. And I'm down for that project, f'sho. Mine'll have to be tradish, though.

Lovely team you've got here. Good luck to all of you, and especially you Quike.... As soon as I have found a team, we are going to be competing.... dam dam dam

PS: Actually, due to me not having a team yet and seeing that you haven't got your MAXIMUM member number, I'd actually like to ask, if I could join? Totally understand, if you would be too many people. Too many cooks make crap soup, but imagine if it was the best soup ever because of the six cooks? Anyways, think about it and drop me a pm.

    Cheers

I did my exquisite corpse self portrait in pencil, in one of my sketchbooks. If I find it, and still like it, I'll post it up.

    I like the zombie-pirate paint/sketch trade thing.

Sucks to lose CK from our roster, considering he was kind of our leader. haha. Anyone wanna take that position?

I'm the older, and therefore, the less suitable to take that position, but maybe we should vote
