Hey, I'm getting a tablet for Christmas! Well, okay, the cost sloughs off into my birthday present too, but still. It's good.
I'll be done with my last final tomorrow, so after that is when I'll get crackin'. For now...a badly drawn old lady.

Ding, dong, the geology final is dead. Only got one sketch done and more of another. I'm thinking that one and the boots are the first things I'll try on that tablet.
Right now I'm drawing the trees outside my window. I probably shouldn't have started on the details so early, but you live and learn. Any critiques or advice is definately needed, please.
I like your style, specially the faces. For the tree drawing, i think you should add some contrast on the nearest branch. And don't go in details with the ones on the back.
Otherwise, Good work! Keep it up!
So I only got this far until the sun got past the roof and into my eyes...always tommorrow. some 2 minute sketches of my friend's sister's christmas singing troupe at the zoo, and some sketches from my last sketchbook of that lump creature in my first post. He actually started out as a joke, and was supposed to be a horror version of Noby Noby Boy. In case anyone is wondering or even cares why I have reoccuring people and things, it's because I would really like to do at least one graphic novel someday.
Hi.
Thanks for the comments. I like the energy, expressions and the compositions in many of your images.

So I'm gonna be trying to use these few weeks I have off as acram course for all the practice time I've been missing. Anything you find that could be improved on in this or any posts SAY IT, no pussy footing. I want to catch up and get alot better than I am now.
Well you know what, Mr. Spect? I drew some moar.
Boy, I had trouble with the legs on the streching one. The girl is my friend's girlfriend, I love her profile. I'm still not done with it, and know the arm is wonky. Zombie woodblock's called "Stephen". I used a barbecue brush to make the gray tone solid shading, the same thing I did with the fish print . To block off areas while I did it, I used packing tape and an exacto knife.
Your poses are great but try developing the confidence of your strokes. Maybe use sharper pencil. It seems you leave multiple thick lines before shading. I know they're sketches but still I think it would benefit. The stretching guys shin looks a bit too short and maybe it's just me, but it seems his pelvis should be thrusted forward a bit more for balance.
And that Stephen guy. It's awesome.

with Myllys on all points...your work almost seems hurried. Try starting with lighter lines and build up. Don't darken if you don't need to. Your strokes seem almost "heavy handed", if you will. I don't know how to tell someone to "loosen-up" other than to consciously consider that while you work...in the long run you will end up saving time, IMNSHO. Don't get me wrong, I like your stuff and you are making good progress...I like your monsters! You also seem to be pushing yourself which is a good quality. Keep it up!
Thankyou so much to both of you...I can't tell you how much this kind of stuff is helping me.
About the heavy handedness, I've been doing things like welding, hammering, carving, and printing for so long that it will take me a while before I can relearn not to use so much force, but I will! (I better, or else that tablet I'm getting won't be lasting very long...)
I'll make note of the suggestion for the strechy guy, too.
Thanks for the compliments too, and thanks again!
...
What does IMNSHO mean?
I love Nathan the snail (you already knew that), and that sketch of your friend pick axing the axe is great as is the girl with the hair down her back. I agree that you have great expressions on the faces you draw and that's good because you can capture the essence of a person. I think where you don't know the person, it falls a bit flat. Just keep having fun and posting them so I can enjoy perusing your SB.
Thank you Black Spot, and that girl is me!
Okay, so I've been storing up dreams in my little noggin ever since elementary school, and I'm going to be trying to do a series of them, starting with this first picture. This is just basically like a thumbnail sketch to work out some of the perspective details, so I didn't put that much detail into it, but I'm still not liking the baseball diamond. Unfortunately I can't go back there because the field has been razed to make a building some time in the last few years.
The other ones are little things that I found outside my house. With the sprinkler I was just trying to get the shape, but I was working on details on the lichen growths, the leetle moss sprig(that thing's tiny), and the cutworm.
Oh, and here's the helmet I was wearing in that drawing, and the actual Nathan eating some carrot.
I think you and I have the same phobia. It is really hard for me to post things that are as rough as the ones I've posted in my sketchy sketchsketch thread, but it's helping me so far.
Lovin' your sketches so far. Can't wait to see more!
Didn't do a lot of drawing today, my icepick friend loaned Silent Hill 3. And of the time I did spend on it, most of it was entering the phrase "gutted carcass" in google and hoping I got lucky. (Animals, not humans.)
PS:Look what I found last night! For some it might not look like much, but this is a pretty big cutworm. I can't wait to make a colored picture of him! He contrasts so nicely from one green to another.
Hey, this is the first time that I have looked at your sketchbook. Cool stuff ! Hope you don't mind me intruding, just wanted to see more of you. Your sketches are really good! Faces are your strong point, I can see, that means that you are good at hands too, or will be. I saw that burn on your poor little chin, so sorry, I know that hurts, I was burned badly once so I can sympathise with that. Hopefuly it won't scar, unless you want it to.
Happy Holidays ! Be safe!

Wow. The drawing with the legs is very very good. Good lighting and anatomy looks great (even toes)
Still not able to see what's going on with opened guys head but I fear the worst![]()

@ Myllys:What head?
Oh, and thank you, I do have quite the nice legs, don't I? *teehee*
@Mah ' Crub: Oh no! I feel so violated! Thank you for visiting. Everybody, go look at this guy's sculptures, they're crazy good.

The legs from your perspective look awesome. I actually like the gesture self portrait slash batman-type villain! I think you should develop it.
You've definitely improved with the last couple of updatesYour poses are looking more believable...try working on your linework and rendering. That'll take your drawings to the next level. Keep it up!
Hi! Thanks for the comment in my sketchbook. I think you are off to a great start. I really like the wood carvings. Also I agree with Black spot the kid with the backpack and the girl with the hair are both really good.
I'm still learning too so I find it hard to give crits but I thought maybe you could try smudging a bit when you are shading to make it more natural. I sometimes use smudging sticks but your finger will work too. The softer the lead, the more it will smudge.
Ooh! Three in a row, how nice! Thank you all for looking here.
@Goldilockz: I wasn't really going to work on that more, but for you, I will.
@jackpot anjr90: Thanks, and that's what I'm aiming for.
@NicG: Smudgy sticks, definately! I don't like using my fingers, everything else I do already gets them dirty.
I really like your style. i'm new to drawing but I wanna ask what kind of pens are you using while drawing with charcoal? i love the guy with the backpack!

I...actually don't use pens. I should, but I don't. And the only thing that I use that could be charcoal, is an 8B pencil. But mostly for cheap old me, it's ticonderoga pencils. Until tomorrow...WHEN I GET A TABLET MWAHAHAHAH!! Everybody, I know next to nothing of color theory, so please help when I screw up.
