Okay! Let's get things rolling.
Just a few questions to get things more clear for ourselves:
We have to design at least 4 characters. How do you want to do that? Do you want to pick two and stick with that or do you want to make sketches for all of them and decide from the collection we have who's gonna do which character.
Is it gonna be 2 characters from start to finish each or are we gonna swap them in different stages? (Like a collaboration on one or two characters)
Do you want to wait for the brief or start brainstorming on a setting/world/theme/era etc?
Aah I can't wait to get the creative juices flowing![]()
Sure thing. Why not go with the Star wars redesign? I liked all the movies and I have never attempted a redesign of such influential characters before. What about designing ourselves as someone from the Star Wars worlds? Or we could go with the redesign
As for new themes: Lately I'm really into the stuff Luis Royo and Frank Frazetta made as illustrators, maybe we could do two characters like that. *dances around the room*
Yesh please
I'm thinking about Darth Maul or Padmé. Who did you pick?![]()
Would you care to elaborate....because I'm not quite sure I'm getting what you're trying to say:
you want to do a lot of them...Luise and Amano are the people who designed the characters you mean? And what I'm getting you want to redesign the older star wars stuff right?(don't get me wrong, I'm trying to make stuff more clear for myself (I painted and drew the whole day and I'm tired right now
)
Oh no hard feelings at all! I adore the old masters as well. The Royo thing was just a suggestion. Anyway, I am able to sketch something as a warm up for the team chow this weekend.
Regarding the studies, copies and character design...eeh...that's part of my daily life so yeah...I'm already doing that![]()
Way over deadline....but it's here. My Padmé speedpaint (1.5h).

Good evening. The time for rest and relaxation is coming to a close. Good luck to you from the Bright Young Mutations, and may the best team win. Bring it on, Lions!

That's true. We met back then! Good question...I remember seeing her website and deviantART. She is active (thus alive) but I think she gave up on us xD It sure was a killer class.
BRIEFING
So which cards do we pick?
I've gone trough all the cards and I'm picking the Ten of Wands and the Five of Swords cards because of what they stand for. It's the closest thing I relate with...their meaning that is.

hey guys, good luck for the team chow and kick some ass![]()
I'm almost finished with my research. I had a lot to read...wow... I will report to you by the end of the week. We have to look one way or another if we're gonna tie us to each other trough our work or something like that.
Are we gonna pick an eta, time, culture or something like? A theme maybe?
Something I ripped from the Level 42 Night Goblin team:
And some images I found of my cards:

Ok.....first...my apologies....I didn't do anything after creating the concepts until you posted your images.
This is where I am after a day sketching and dumping it in photoshop.... I'm gonna have it finished before the deadline!
I see the ten of wands is going towards the original image....bleeh gotta change that! Tomorrow!
I've put some work into the FiVe of swords....
The stupid thing is she didn't put a deadline in the first post :s I'm gonna look it up...oh here it is....
The soft edge is kind of a lazy way of working. After I establish everything more or less I go back in and put in the hard edges or lost edges. I'm at this point with the five of swords. I like the new lazy way of painting xD
I'm gonna work some more on the other one, because I didn't do anything with it besides what I showed you two posts ago.
Mind your edges as well btw. you have lots of hard edges. Make them softer where they could be blending
EDIT I think I finished the rendering

Ten of wands update. Who's gonna do the final post btw?
Five of swords final (full res) and ten of swords (full res). Sorry to leave you with some of my worst work yet....
Can I trust you to make the final post because I'm going to bed after I finish the next image.
Bleeeh....tried a new, lazy, way of painting with sharpen filter...hmm..don't know if I like it.
