Holy shit @ rendering sensitivity. Objects are well-done too. I can see why it'd be people's favorite. Should you have time, you should definitely post more of your fine-art works as well as your comic pages.

How long did you work on this for?

The background is the only thing I would smoothen.

    The rest is SUPERB!!!

wonderful use of imagination. Of course he used references.

What kind of paper is this you used? I assume bristol board? I do like your rendering as I'm definitely fond of rendering myself.

So wow, yeah, it's been awhile since I posted. I haven't seen your comments until today. Thanks! I really appreciate it. That one took something like 30-40 hours. It was done on Strath 300 Bristol, 14x17.

About the background: I took it to get framed and told the framer it was fine to spray some matte fixative on it, as I had forgotten. It did this terrible thing to the darker leads...looked like soap scum. I had to try and do some chemical work to take it off, and it never quite looked right afterward. Oh well.

So I was frustrated painting something tonight and decided to do a self-portrait. It was fun, about 1.5 hrs, and I'll try to do more and keep this thread updated.

(needless to say, that drawing was done in 2007. I've changed quite a bit since, what with having 2 kids and sitting all day drawing/painting and getting quite round)

    Cheers!

Ok...I probably won't get one of these done every day...but I'm going to strive for that, and hopefully I can get a few done a week in reality. So here's another, quicker one...not as good, but it's playing the game that matters, right?

Pretty happy with this one. Likeness is good. talking with Dad on the phone during the process, so it ended up taking about 2 hours...probably did a good 1.5 hours' worth of work though.

I wouldn't recognize you if I saw only first work))
    But anyways, works are great.
The first one is 100% a concept art!
the rest is very good.... but I would add some concept too...
But I like the mysterious smile you have on the last one)

Thanks for the comments I think to me it looks like most of the self-portraits in this section are more straightforward portraits without much "concept"...I could be wrong.

Anyway, yeah the first picture is based on me from about 4 years ago, and I've changed a lot since then.
