Just got my Wacom last Friday. The spider thing is the first thing I did with it. It's for the DSG (#1519). I was supposed to create 5 walking robots. I spent so much time on this one (mostly playing and learning the tablet) that I never finished. But I already learned so much that I can't wait to start the next one.


The second one is another one for the DSG. Can't quite remember what the topic was. It was done before I had the tablet (which I call my digi for some reason).
It's Prismacolor pencil in a sketchbook, pic sucks cause it was taken with a cell phone. Things are getting better though.

The third one is old as hell. It's from a DSG back when I had a different user name and it was done in Photoshop with a mouse. I like the idea, but it's kind of a piece of crap.

Don't mean to sound like one of those "all my work sucks, I suck" kind of artists, it's optimistic whining. LOL.

I'm really looking forward to improving. I've been reading about the "sketch, block in color, blend, reform details" technique on Bumskee's still life Photoshop painting thread. Learning tons. I'll be trying to work that way from now on.

If anyone has a link to some knowledge or suggestion on where I can look to find information you consider particularly useful I'd greatly appreciate it.

I Like the spider concept there, though I would've included more color, and maybe less cartoonish sketching....

Things to fix -
Color.
Realism* try to draw more real figures, maybe study the shape of an actual spider?
Shading and Highlights.

2. Second skecth w/ color is actual a really cool concept. Kids speed graffiti-ing on an alien spacecraft, not a wall is quite original

3. When I look at this image, I think of the jetsons...and their rediculously large carbon footprint...NAH I'm joking (please don't hound me global warming fanboys)

Two more DSG entries. The first one is... DSG 1520: Timely • PARASITIC VIDEO-GAME SYSTEM ZOMBIFIES PLAYER
The idea was that the green light from the TV makes the dude with the permanent "Nintendo face" look like a zombie. Didn't really pull it off.

The second is... DSG 1521: Creature • FASCINATING BEAST SHARES ATTRIBUTES OF BOTH RHINO AND ARACHNID which isn't at all what I had in mind, but I learned a lot and it's alright. Not really too proud of any of it so far. I will get better.

IDK man, I really like doing the DSG entries, but I feel like I could advance more if I spend more time on some stuff. I've been reading a lot of cool stuff on CA and I'm really excited about getting good. But I'm just not, yet. I started reading Idiot Apathy's first peer project thread today and it looks like an AWESOME resource. I kind of got off it for a couple hours today reading in some of the links he posted in there. First thing I have to do is learn some basic color theory stuff!! Some of these guys are doing really basic designs with mind blowing colors, using the same program and equip. I am making crap with.

I drew this from a photo reference using colored pencils then photoshoped a photo of it. I'll probably work on it more someday. Just a sketch for now.

See, now thats an update! More realistic, with the figures, nice coloring techniques as well.

hey dude, great storytelling! but too much colour try limiting your pallette or working in black and white to get a handle on values

Hey nice stuff you got here mate, and good thing you started studies too. You got some interesting concepts. Well im not gonna come up with critiques yet, will visit your SB few more times and if theres something, ill definitely let you know.

Still life. I was going to try to do this in 20min. It took an hour and still didn't look that good. I want to work on getting in more detail and better belnding. The real apple was very "not round" so I actually think my outline was OK. So, need to work on a)time, b)blending, and c)detail (for now). Goals SET!
