im just imagining you holed up in some corner looking through pictures of sexy men drenching themselves with water.
Good work. Try to do little 500x500 quick compositions. Try to think of the entire composition and get a complete statement.

Hey guys! I just finished a write-up earlier today regarding my trip to San Francisco this past weekend for the Massive Black Workshop! You can read my in-depth review here.
I tried to include as much information as possible on the lectures I attended to immerse yourselves in. Hopefully you can learn a thing or two? Let me know what you think!

Mike! Massive Black tweeted your review and I was like 'hey that's teapo!' I went and checked it out and it was a really really great read. Thanks for putting that up and made me wish I was there haha![]()
Oh snap! You went to the workshop?! I went there too! The review was spectacular tons of pictures and details. I hardly took any pictures. Its interesting to see which classes others selected. Some of the classes you posted I attended also. lol![]()
I'm out to conquer the world equipped with a pencil, digital paint and a Sketchbook
and when I do achieve that goal...I'll conquer the moon too![]()

Hey man, keep up the hard work! with your digital studies, try using the biggest brush possible, trust me- it works. that's not just me saying it, it's ron lemen saying it, it's craig mullins saying it, it's anybody saying it.
Keep it up!
First off, I have to say that I love sketchbooks like these. You see grit and determination, and subsequently, noticeable improvement, and then great improvement. It really is motivating and keeps me pumped for my own work. I really love all of your pencil stuff. I think that with patience and focus, you can achieve the same level in your digital work. Also, don't shy away from using a photo reference here and there. Don't use it like a study - simply extract what you need to so you can push your pieces forward. Anyway keep it up!
Also, I just read your entire recap of the SF Workshop on your blog. I have to give you a very large THANK YOU for that. I was extremely bummed that I couldn't attend, and just getting that glimpse from your perspective was extremely fulfilling. Obviously it could never compare to actually attending - but the time and care you put into the recap is extremely appreciated - at least by me.

Nice blog article man! one day il go. That last character is sickkk FINISH HIM![]()
hey man
i know what i said last time about big brush and everything, which is still true and all.
but like, you kill it with the pencils and have a crazy rendering style, you should totally bring that into your digital stuff! you don't have to make it look like the photo, you can do whatever the fuck you want your drawing it. If you really want to learn about blurs, rendering and all that, don't use a soft round- that's an easy way, sure it's more time efficient and i'm not saying don't use it ever, but you should try and capture it the long way first so you know what it is.
But the main thing I want to leave you with is to try making digital marks like your pencil marks.
Your making me feel lazy and everything man!
Just wanted to drop in and personally thank you for that Massive Black workshop review. It was an enjoyable read. Must've been an inspiring event that got you all pumped up and motivated. I would probably be speechless if I ever met those MB and SMV guys...
SB's looking great !

thank you p sage! will do
fudgeloaf, going to try and finish him. lots of mistakes need to be fixed so i tried starting something else on the side haha
thanks ryan mcshane! see, that's the difficult thing-- trying to translate your pencil work to digital. when i make too many small marks to create my pencils i find that to be different when it comes to the digi paint D:"
ty ozark! glad you enjoyed the blog. definitely try to go to one in the future
i need to draw bigger when i draw people from observation!
the integrity of the sketch was lost when i started adding color D':
also... dat calf has issues D:

dude your working hard! the metal is reading really well. I think that's a big difference between now and maybe a few pages ago, where now the contrast in materials are a lot more visible.
I concur. The metal on the fantasy mumified thing in the last post reads really well. I love the sports studies and sketches on this page. The comment about the S7S tablet caught my interest too. The study looks good. Could you tell us a bit more about your experience with the device and what software and OS you use with it please? Or point me in the direction of where you might have done so already? Thank again. Cheers

Sweet pencil work mate, keep going!
I love these peeps.
@wutangclam thanks wutang. i mainly look at artists i like and study their color palette but for learning color in general, still lifes help as well as photo studies. yes, i'm currently attending school but it's no art school if that's where you were getting at?
@bbwolf thanks bb. i know there are a lot of mistakes but don't feel pressured if you don't know what to crit ondef. look into that s7s!
@Ludic thanks Ludic!
(all colored images in this post were done when i was messing with monitor calibration-- so the values will probably looked washed out)

if you know your own mistakes, then everything is good. Then I don´t need to go and find my professor hat. Good relaxing thing for me. Yay. I just love how you renderd that nice shiney armor.
Really good job and good likeness of contemporary, new polished steel plate.
About the Slate, I know of the big Samsung thing. I think its a good idea to combine the tablet with the pc. But alas, I am a die hard Mac user and hate Windows with a fervor. I am counting down
until the release of Windows 8 and then have another look at the thing. I am looking for something nice and small to paint and sketch on on the go and to show me portfolio. here´s hoping Apple
will have a good knew thing for me with the next keynote in two days.
cheerio
