I'm a concept artist in the game industry and went to SCAD for undergraduate in Sequential art (comic books). I used to be much more active on the forums, but have taken a long break. Now I'm back!

I've been very busy with work and a bit of freelance recently, and personal art has slipped through the cracks. Now it's time to take an active effort to return to fundamentals. Stay tuned for updates!

I'm starting up a new side project -- following the 'skillful huntsman' model, I'm doing some illustrations to go along with a grimm fairytale. I've chosen "the white snake" -- which includes a nice selection of environments and a handful of characters. I'll be starting with the locations. Stop by to see more as I update them!

Cool, another SCAD-ite! Which one did you attend, Savannah or Atlanta?

Anyway, that first envrio is absolutely gorgeous and your rendering skills are pretty keen, too. Looking forward to seeing more!

Here's some pears that I painted from a photo. Generally I spend about an hour and half on studies like these. Someday I'll move up to a full still life, though I'm going to stick with one or two objects for now.

RE your question: All the value studies currently in my blog were done in Painter Tool SAI, using a smeary brush. There's a free trial available, should give it a go.

Wow, I'm really surprised by all of this positive feedback! It's good to know that I'm not the only one that likes cups, bowls, and spheres. Here's a lunchtime cornell box: (they are common radiosity tests for 3D artists, though I made up my own composition)

Here's my progress on the character of the week competition: Junkyard golem. The first one is my underpainting, and the second one is my current progress. I'm thinking about spending one more lunchtime to finish it off.

great work in here man. I love your use of color, and you have a strong sense of composition. The lighting is superb and always leads to a strong focal point.

Your life studies are truly inspirational, if i wasn't in class right now, i'd be doing my own.
