need help with values and form

    Hiya
I'm working on this character and I can't seem to get the values to look right
in this painting of him. If anyone could give me some tips on how to make his pose look more interesting that would be cool too.
I've also attached a front view sketch of him, I could also use some help fixing his colors too, since I'm not sure how/where to add highlights and shadows so they look good.
    thanks!

oh yeah changed the face back to the original, it looks too battlestar galactica

    Looks good.

You might want to start by thinking more about how the forms would work in 3D--my immediate reaction was that the drawing's just completely flat. It might also be a good idea to work out how the joints move--that is, how the shoulders and hips work mechanically, because right now the hardware on those joints doesn't really make any sense.

    greetings from Scotland

Saw your post and messed around with it a little, not sure if it what you want but I thought I would give it a go. I have used photoshop and have the file 1.6mb if you want it as all my additions are on a seperate layer. I am no expert but I thought you were being a bit hard on yourself and maybe another opinion will spur you on. Sometimes another idea even if you reject it as rubbish can give you a bit of direction from within yourself. A wee bit arty farty I know but I hope you know what I mean.

    Cheers
