Left is my big guy again, being kinda Emo. The right was me trying to design some outfit that ended up looking like Nightcrawler in a jogging suit.

Oh man I need a drafting table or lap board thing like my gram has. The Asian chicks face is soo skewed from being drawn on a flat surface. The other stuff is a bit skewed too but asian women don't look like that so it's obvious . 5 on the left are reffed, 3 on the right are not.

    Helps if I hit upload.

You could do it like I do, prop the top half of the book onto the desk, while the rest of it is on your lap.

Flat surface or not, try to measure our the dimensions of the face before you take it further. You have the same problem I do, making the nose and the head too long.

    Keep it up!

Silly animu head into drapery studies from a 1997 clothing catalog I found in my friend's house. It can only be described as 'Epic lulz.'

Except the swirly dress in the middle. I was watching something about wedding dresses. I will never be a fashion designer.

Your last study there is good stuff. Using a catalog is a great ref. You are really improving on your shading. Also your anatomy seems to really be improving. Looks good all around. I love your night crawler. He has a special place in my heart. But the best is the goatboy at the top, you can really see how your studies paid off. Keep it up.

Nice, Kaileighblue! You really are improving. I like the sketches from the clothing catalog frm 1997. I agree with Enydimon about your faces, you ten do make them too long. Oh, well, you know how to fix that, right? study!

I looked again and I have to say I actually really like your pencil shading. Now just work on your anatomy and compositions and all the other stuff, and you'll be great Your digital stuff is weaker, but I guess you just don't have a painting method that works for you yet.
And about the environment from the top of the page, that you said you hated, I think the biggest problem of the picture are the colors and atmospheric perspective. Try to introduce more color variations to those works
Also, I would like to point you to a page I use for environment painting practice reference finding: Terra Galleria

    Keep it up!

I hope the face thing doesn't mean I need new glasses again. I don't think I could afford them.

My attention spam is currently fer crap. It took me a few days just to do this one page of stuff. Although I think all the moobs I've been drawing may have sunk in a bit.

Ugh I keep thinking I have so much stuff to do that I lock up and don't get anything done. I've got around 8 hours of computer time, while the boys geek it up downstairs, I need to use it.

Took one of the sketches and make it into a thing for another page. Every time I try to photoshop this character it looks different.

Ugh I feel like everything is collapsing on me. Someone tells me I was was better over a year ago than I am now. My friend won't stop getting upset that I won't draw him fap material and I still can't just sit down and draw something original and interesting.

Don't worry I'm not going to slit my wrists, write emo poetry, or stop drawing. Just keep going wondering if I'll ever amount to anything personally or professionally.

    I need a therapist.

Also a bigger drawing (relative to my other stuff) and some costume designs. The first two female armors are totally copied from DnD online armor because I haven't the slightest how to draw armor so refs yay. The satyr is just trying to figure how normal clothes would fall on something with digigrade legs.

Here's an attempt at my theory that I can use purple better than grey scale.

    Wasp

It really makes me all tingley that the person that says only his opinion of my art should matter thinks I haven't been trying to get better.

Second one is trying to draw armor myself, based on what I've seen. rest is just stuff from a magazine.

When i can't think I just end up drawing pages of faces.

When working from a references what's more important: Capturing a likeness or just doing it? Because I feel like I get caught up in the details when I work on something like the Pic or Wilson or Jason Mraz.

The legs are so not going to be fun to get right on the statue.

Your faces are getting better. I think the main issue was the length of the nose, some of them are still a bit too long but they're look a lot better now. As for capturing the likeness or the details... try capturing the likeness first, like a rough, then add in details. You want to get them both. It's a hard thing to do, so just keep at it.

Your friend sounds like a jerk. Next time tell him to draw it himself, if he whines that he can't do it or it's too hard or doesn't want to do the work, then tell him that you don't want to draw it either. Tell him to commission someone else instead.

Keep up the good work. You're improving for sure!

I'm so tired of copying stuff. Blargh. It's not that I can't do it I just get so caught up in getting it right, to the specific person, that I don't think I'm getting much out of it.

Have some tiny perspectives. Since my eventual wish is to work on comics books being able to draw scenery on paper might be a good thing. They're all about 2 inches squared.

And more of my giant guy, Frost. I love this character. Eventually I'll draw him right.

Close up of the statue pic after some hair and beard work. It's a little hard because I can't make out much detail in the original so I really winged the beard and parts of the hair.

I'm not very good at processing how to react to crits or praises. So Thanks for them, all. Know I'm reading them.

More Purple statue WIP. This piece is actually on the largest canvas I think I've ever used, scaled down to post here. I don't know if it makes a difference or not.

Watch the angle of his nose, it looks a bit out of perspective with the rest of the piece. Try flipping the canvas back and forth so you can see your mistakes. A good thing to do since sometimes you're staring at something so long and you don't realize it until you flip it about.

    It's looking good, though.

I'm not sure I see what you mean. His nose is kinda smashed in in the original or is it something else?

I get the occasional person telling me I should print my comic. I don't think I'd ever do that unless I redid all the art. However I don't want to redo all the art until it's finished.

I decided just to redo some panels or scenes to have a side by side to show the difference. Mostly for myself, but also to show others.

Once again this is Frost in his first appearance nearly 2 years ago compared to now.
