twan learns to draw

Hi everybody, I created a new thread to show you my stuff ^^
I'm twan, I started this thread when i was 15, now i'm 17 aand .... that's all ^^

So my new goal is to be able to draw from mind portrait with pencil or computer ( eg: speed painting )
thus I spent the last week drawing and painting on my tablet, this is the result:

nice work, i enjoy your figures the most i think a good next step would be to start mixing and applying the colors you see with Acrylics. hope to see more soon !

i think you should draw males too, because it seems like you haven't drawn many. the two genders are very different even though both are human haha.

1 hour for those one:

and for the next, I spent only 45 mins because I just love the render, It was fun

studies...

and now heads from mind, oh it's fucking hard, can someone correct my line ? Or just tell me what's wrong and advice me



the next day I'll study loomis, bridgman, norman rockwell and kevin kchen because someone advice me to study masters drawing ^^

I wish I had your drive at your age dude keep it up. When drawing from mind, just remember porportions, some of your eyes are way big (a problem of mine
too)

Just google genreal face porportions if you dont know what they are, you get a good list.

Be careful on the jawlines. Men have jawline's close to the ear, women's are further down. Make sure the soften the features on women, and pay attention to the differences between the sexes. You're doing good.

Spend a little more time on your studies and get the most out of them. It looks like you're rushing some of them.

hey guys! I haven't posted her for a while (1 months), I was busy but now I can draw all my days,
I found my line was one of my worst problem. Indeed it give a negative image to my drawings, because it's dirty and too rough. Moreover with a bad line, correct the line become really hard . I have difficulty to beautify and improve my line, any advices?

so yersterday I wanted to start over, create again a new thread but evenif find my old drawing too bad, it permit to see my improvement I think
so here stuff of yesterday and today:

some hands, lot of funs, I learned a lot


I think I have to draw more from mind but it's really hard damn
I'll begin to study anatomy in the nexts days !
have you got artist to advice me to study (except loomis, bridgman and kchen that i already know and who are awesome!) ?

You have a really good touch with the pencil and great dedication, especially for someone your age.
One thing to work on...keep an eye on your proportions when you are working from life or from photos. I notice that many of your referenced drawings are showing some measuring errors. Practice sight measuring and triangulation and really get those relative distances down, and your work will soar to a whole new level.

here a failed attempt to paint an apple, it sucks, it's realy hard to make realistic painting...

and some anatomy studies, I've drawn so slowly for those one, I can't believe it ( around 3hours I guess) but I do not want to make low quality stuff, that why I spend so much time. Need to draw faster

So today I decides to study arms!

first some bridgman's and hogarth's studies:


then I study my dad's arm, which was fun eventhough there was no light source, thus no shadow and light could be render and it more difficult to see volume:


to finish I tried to apply what I've just leanerd, I draw from mind, which is no so easy!


I think I should study shoulders ^^

and to all have a very good christmass, cheers ( so I won't post tomorow obviously)

Hi Twan, thanks for having a look at my sketchbook! Yours is nice as well. Good that you do so many head-/anatomy-studies. I think working more with reference will help you; so do more still-lives. I also had a look at your SP-thread: try out various techniques for SP (watercolor works well, because it is fast; or digital).

Your Anatomy and the drawings from your mind are good. You can transfer the things you learn by studying fast to your imaginational drawing.

Keep going Are the Heads in your last post from imagination too?
