    Thumbs up

Nice environment! Its got a monochromatic palette goin on, which I love. Personally I just want to see a few strokes of color. Sometimes a bit more saturated yellow ochre or naples yellow in the highlights keeps them from becoming to cold, which just plain white will cause. Keep em comin'!

The figure study in post 13 is really nice, you should do more! Your cowboyhat girl is nice as well, but the hips and legs are a bit wonky. You seem to have a very nice spread with what you're doing, tackling weak spots and such. If you want to get better at enviro's, perhaps do some more value based studies? Just working in greyscale and focusing on composition, value( obviously) and edges. Keep it up!

Neither is a drawing necessarily academic because it is done in what is called a conventional style, any more than it is good because it is done in an unconventional style. The test is whether it has life and conveys genuine feeling."- Harold Speed

The Pariano - thanks for the feedback! I'm definitely going to do more value studies.

Here's a study from this week.

And a piece I am working on.

More work on this. Not sure I want to finish it or not now, too many problems with composition, perspective, pose, etc.

some of your works reminds me of daarken's art, he's got some cool tutorials. If you like his style you should check them out

maeshanne - Thanks a lot man! I'm a big fan of Daarken's work, I'm glad his influence is showing. I've been watching his tutorials recently actually, I was definitely trying for Daarken-esque on that last Ghoul piece.

Here's some progress on the Martian landscape. Just a paint-over of the last stage, I will refine it soon.

Cool! It's great to see such progress in the span of one page! Well done!
The last painting is comming along nicely. Only thing that bothers me is the lighting on the arms. Try to light the general forms first and make them read correctly in 3D space and then render the individual muscles with the local values you've already established. Like you've done with the legs. There you can see them coming forward, closer to us and receding back into space, whereas the arms and chest look like they're all in one plane right now.
Hope that helps! And good luck!
When in doubt, run and shout.

Windmaker - thanks a bunch for the feedback. That critique is very helpful, I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with this piece. I tend to jump into details too early, thinking about the big forms and working my way down will help me a lot.

Finished this one up. I know there are no arches on Mars, let's just say this is a Mars-like planet in a galaxy far, far away.
