Thanks for the encouraging comments, all. Been busy with more traditional painting of late, update will follow shortly.

Quick sketch for the DnD project I've just found / forgot to post with the others.

Wicked cd cover design on the previous page! Too bad it never made it to print. And the last portrait is also nice! Used Beyonce as reference?

Cheers, AG. Yeah - that's right, Beyoncé. Perhaps a bit too pristine as one of the lost trying to survive the realm, though. I'll have to lose the make-up, and a couple of teeth.

Some close-ups, as the previous image loses a lot of the texture detail.

    Wip shots to follow..

Looking good dude, I like how you integrate the 3D with the 2D. You should try and do more 2D, and even some traditional... Either way Keep posting...

Thanks Liz. Aye, story of life for me at the moment - no time. Perhaps insomnia will kick in again soon, that will help.

Hiya Gray, not been round for a while. Awesome updates! I love your idea of realising the DnD cartoon characters, I loved that show so much, really captured the imagination. Can't wait to see them all finished, especially Uni..."Uuuuuuni!!!"

Your grayslayer is really cool too, great to see the progress, just one crit is that his buttons look blurry, looks a bit off compared to the rest.

    Hey Angel.

It's been ages since I've posted any updates, so thanks for stopping by as it reminds me to get back to it!

DnD is still great now, they don't make 'em like that anymore. I imagined at first that Uni had grown into a mighty warhorse, and pictured a grown Bobby-the-barbarian on horseback. Then I thought how years of hardship should affect the horse too, so maybe she should be a knackered old mare, on last legs?!

I agree with you on the slayer piece. It was very much a rush-job (as all of the ChOW entries seem to be) trying to get it done during lunchtimes and weekends. Thanks for feedback, I will continue to track your work and return some (hopefully helpful) feedback.

Coming along nicely! The horse section looks a little skinny perhaps, but I'm no horse-expert. Looking forward to seeing the progress

Yeah, you may be right there - though the plan is to bring in more samurai armour and more horsegear which will add bulk too. Has been a proper headtest this one!

Cheers Liz, has put me in the mood to pick up the DnD stuff again and do more horse studies so it's done it's job.

You mean the Barbarella? I sketched something out to take part, but I've got two projects at critical stages at work. The overtime has meant no way of working something up by the weekend. Are you entering?

Yeah, Barbarella I'm working on something now, but I'm not sure if I'll get it finished. I'm terrible about finishing chow's haha.

That really sucks that you don't have enough time, it's a fun theme this week!

    Oh it's tragic!

I'll post my WIP's in the thread soon. Yesterday I'd planned to spend this morning working on it, but when I woke up, it couldn't have been snowier outside. I am working, but I keep glancing out the window like a kid waiting for class to end. I don't think I can stay inside much longer :]

Great stuff, your robin hood was one of my favorites. The 3D models like very good, specially that red knight that has a great design. The low poly model was also very impressive, it's difficult to work wich such a low polycount as they use in games. I noticed though that the render was not that great. Maybe you should put some light opposite to the main one (a blue one for example) to avoid that harsh shadow, even if it's a preview, it takes so little to render and it adds so much to the pictures, it really helps selling the model. For the shinny parts I noticed a weird texture, maybe you could try putting a HDRI image, again, it renders quite fast.
    Cheers!
