Hey! Got anything new for us?![]()
Hey Liz.
Yeah, I must've appeared a bit lazy of late! In truth, I've just been spending the free-time with traditional painting and organising another entry for an April exhibition. Oh, but I did complete a wedding present for some close friends and can post it now (as they opened it this weekend). They were quite chuffed I think, and I was mighty relieved that the response was good!
So... not exactly new - as this piece's been keeping me busy on-and-off since November (what with organising the drying time of oil paint). Is still my favourite medium and I'm midway through another painting which I shall photograph tonight and post up progress.

Ah, it's so good to hear they liked it!!![]()
Too right - bit of a load off, plus delivering it freed up some much-needed studio space. Started blocking in another piece which I'll chip away at whilst another portrait is drying. I was too eager to get stuck in so I rushed the underpainting stage. There's no deadline for this one, so I'll just keep building on it methinks and keep the brushwork quite 'choppy'. (sorry for the crap photo).

Been a bit lazy on the painting front - I blame the nice weather! This week's life drawing, was a lot of quick sketches to make me realise I need to build my speed up again.

Moodboard and final submission for a competition to redesign a Vampirella cover. Not entirely successful, but I just ran out of time to fine-tune. Good fun in the making though! Thanks to Carola Cudemo for the reference!

Some sketches towards my next painting. I'm pleased to say I'm working closely with Carola Cudemo again. She is a great model and very helpful when it comes to bouncing ideas back and forward. This piece is a cold - ice 'Beast Mistress'. Playing on the Beauty and the Beast theme, I'm looking forward to painting fur, metal, skin, hair, etc. so these sketches are to help my understanding ahead of the 'final' piece. Is great to sketch Carola anyway!
The beasts are going to be blinded, led by the Mistress. Am part-way though sketching these out in ZBrush and I imagine them to have warhorse-like armour over the face... work in progress still.
I'll post progress shots when I begin the paint-job, and some more working sketches to keep this sb alive!
Cheers,
~Slayer

Another quick study of Carola. Not pleased with the likeness, I don't think it does the model justice! Learned a bit more though so I guess it did it's job.
