MarcSampson, Thank you, I put much attention to my brushes.
These are just my recent sketches, often don't find the strength to finish them.

You clearly have a great grasp on anatomy, perspective, etc.. however my only critique would be, try to use less textured brushes, i feel like you're attempting to use those to compensate for lack of form, etc... But I can't really say anything, you're way beyond my level, it's just an observation, take it as you will, they're still great pieces.
keep em comin!
Dope Fiend, yes, I have that problem of using too much textures in my works, I didn't realize before that I compensate texture with form or anything I'm not sure of, Thank you for that.
Messed around with different layer styles.

I started to like drawing only with round brush, now I see how much I avoided doing right forms, with textured brushes and overlays. This is WIP, I had the chance to ask a question from one of my all time favorite artists, Iain McCaig, on an online chat he had with fans on his blog. I asked how to improve my character design skills, I know about his DVD's, but I hoped to get something different, and I did, he told me to draw characters for a story that I like, also that worse thing to do is try to do a beautiful drawing (something like that), and I see what he ment by that. He is a storyteller and just chooses drawing to tell stories, so he puts his effort on conveying a story and all that comes with it (character design for example) instead of trying to carefully render out beautiful pencil and brush strokes. Well, I might be wong but this is my take on what he said. Also, he said, character design is derivered from the story. I gained a lot of knowledge on that chat.
Well, my story is, that after some cataclysmic events one world state was set up, people controlling, Big Brother, no privacy, no freedom government type of thing, and these are the rebellions meeting underground to cook up next plan for taking freedom back. I don't know how much more time I will put into this piece, maybe add some technology, it's still future.

Re-discovered how awesome Niklas Jansson's technique is, nothing special, just like you would draw with acrylics, but that's completely not my cup of tea, that's why it was fun to try, learned a lot from it.

The design isnt so great because I did it with few lines and didn't plan to render them so much, but it happened.

AztcFireFlower, I havent, but I think I'll try it out, it's great to see how much I have learned so far, since I did this one Very long time ago.
raminafshari, Thanks.
Awesome pig and turtle, aren't they? My friend made them from my eraser.
2. one, logo, I did for a bmx shop, that one is for shirts and stickers.
3. My schoolwork
Last one, college lwork, ornaments, I picked out the ones I liked the best, I did pretty much of my designs in PS, but later painted them with acrylics.
So much to do lately, and I lost my diary, note-book, how am I gonna keep track of my doings now? Damn. Though I have little time, I don't squeeze in my studies and drawings in PS, I do other stuff at the last minute, so studies are for some reason priority.

Hey!
Nice work.
In my opinion you are over-using custom brushes.
Try to use more default brushes.
With them you can see your weak points better.
No special effect hiding them
Keep it up dude!
Sil
Silwynar, Thanks, and exactly, a little time ago I started to use almost only round brush, now I pratice the default natural brushes that come with PS, they are very good.
A Jeti WIP, critique and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

After for some years of drawing with PS I think I've finally found technique that suits me the most, of course different tasks need different techniques in some sort. I begin with linework because I can design better with lines, rather than shapes, then I add multiply layer and paint on roughly big areas of colors, not only middle area but also light and shadows, then add normal layer and just paint on top.
Did this in about 2 hours.

Cool. Colors are real nice. Maybe a tiny bit more contrast in key places?
Jason Scanlon, Thanks, right on, I do struggle with contrast.

amazing sketchbook man! I love your drawings, the value that you create in them.
I have the same opinion, that you are over-using custom brushes. That´s why I love that Yeti, lot of expression in it. Keep doing good work![]()

Those are sketches done at school with charcoal, 5 min poses. Last alien is also schoolwork, I have to do about 16 of those, with different colors, saturation, B&W, for color theory class.
