    Talking Critiques Needed

Right now, my painting's in a very rough stage.

I got inspiration from pictures of lava pouring into the ocean. So basically what's happening here is that in the midst of a waterfall/lava, there's a rock formation in the shape of a crocodile skull, with water pouring on each side.

What I want to know is:

    1. Does the angle of the crocodile head look correct?

    2. What about the rest?

    3. The right of the painting feels empty, should I include waves on the right, or leave it calmer like it is now.

Just anything to help make it better. Really appreciated!

I really like it. Here is a few quick brushstrokes to point out a few things. Hope they read well.

EDIT: my bad, I did not try to fix the pespective on that attached picture, I just wanted to point it out as it was. (hopefully show it was obviously a tiny bit off)

I really like the values and the color pallet you have chosen. I do think that you need to silhouette the croc skull better. Now from what I remember of other photos of lava hitting water is that it creates a lot of steam so this would be a great way of showing off the skull by having a bellowing cloud of steam forming behind it. I would also advise thinking of where the lava pours out. out of the eye might be OK but I out in front like that doesn't make sense unless it is coming out the nasal cavity and then in that case have it come out the other nostril and perhaps show lava pouring into the head.

    Hope that helps.

Imagination is not a total internal power but rather it is a reflection and multi-faceted projection of our experiences and knowledge. We take in information from the world around us and intuitively re-order it into something new. Something is not created from nothing but simply transformed from what was before.

Nrekkvan: Those perspective lines you drew in, haven't you set the vanishing point a bit close? If you look at the croc head as a shape in 2-point perspective, you'd need to move that VP way off the page on the right, rather than on the page. Probably more like this:

The inside of the croc mouth would follow the same line, of course, although it's pretty close to the horizon line.

One thing that'll make your images more dynamic in the future, blazinwolf, keep your horizon line above or below the centre of the page. It'll make a difference.
