Waterfall Finished-09/23/09

So, I have a huge lack of skill with environments. That needs to change.

This is my first rough attempt at a clif type feature (Now with small cave action!). I tried to just do it out of my head, which is a major no no for new things IMO.

I think tonight after work i'll search Google and put together a reference folder to study before I continue on....

I think it looks bad, but I'm posting it in case there is a rockface expert out there who can offer some guidance or point me to some obscure resource.

Well i have some references I'm glancing at now. I guess I'll just muddle my way through learning how to do environments and see where this goes.

Well picked colors actually and decent brushwork. More brush variety could be implemented. Have fun practicing and thanks for sharing!

Update. I think I'm getting close to done at this macro level blocking in. I am considering going in and detailing it for the practice at that scale as well.

The shadows felt dead, so i tried to liven them up. I think I'm going to bed now...

Well I think I'm getting close to finished with this one. Maybe one more revision. Right now the viewer's eye is drawn to the lower right corner because of the detail level there, I need to try and figure out how to get them back on the waterfall, as it's the central feature.

Well, I remembered the concept that the eye is drawn to the areas of highest contrast, so that's just what I did. I bumped up the contrast where I want the viewer to look.
