Van Douglas - Thanks for the comment! I'm sorry but I don't have any personal resources on oil painting. I would suggest taking a workshop from an artist who's work you admire. Workshops are a great way to get your feet wet with oils and you'll hopefully come away inspired to paint. Try checking out the Scottsdale Artist School for a place to take a workshop. In the end best advise I can give is paint as much as you can from life.
Mane - Thanks!
Gpozzo - Thanks for checking out my work!

Ok, Matt. Where can we buy the DVD?
Reactor4 - Hahaha! No plans to make a DVD. But I'm glad it sounds like I'd have at least one buyer if I did.
Here's some new stuff. The two female figures are 18"x 24". And the standing male nude is a 2 hour 16"x 20" sketch from one of the artist groups I paint with.

Solid work. How did you learn to do these?
AlexanderTheDecent - Thanks for the comment! I spend a lot of my time painting from life. That's really the only way to develop your skills.

Wow. I love everything about your paintings, especially the skin tones and brush strokes. I subscribed to your blog with Google Reader (which, to the chagrin of many, is going down in July). Cheers!
I just browsed this whole thread and I really enjoy you posting your progress and life as an artist. Truly inspirational.

bjoern3000 - Thanks! I used to paint very detailed with acrylic paints years ago. I felt that I wasn't growing as an artist and needed to try a different approach - so I began working with oils and more from life. The quick sketches I began doing with the oils helped me move into a looser approach with my studio paintings. I don't think I would go back to the detailed work.
This is a 11"x14" oil.
