    Why PS7? + Laggy CS3

    Hey all.

I'm currently using CS3, with CS4 on my way... (Both student licenses from school) However, it has come to my attention that a 'lot', or at least from what I've seen, artists are still using PS7... Why?

I'm guessing it has something to do with speed, as in the application taking less memory from the system?

You see, I'm having some difficulties painting in CS3, I'm working on a 4000px by 2400px canvas and it lags, I mean LAGS... I put a stroke with my brush and have to wait a couple of seconds before it shows up, not all the time though. I find it impossible to paint like that, but don't wish to reduce my canvas size either... I'm working on 300dpi btw.

No other applications are running simultaneously, I'm working on a Macbook Pro 15", 2GB ram, 2.4 GHz and running 10.5.8.

Would it be less laggy if I were to get CS?

Probably it's a ram thing, so more would be advisable. But I'd also like to hear the official reason.

Anything earlier than CS3 is likeley to be slower on a recent Mac, as that was the first Intel native version. People might still using 7 because that was the last version to introduce features that made a big difference for digital painting (the new brush engine).
