    Red face Loki-Lou's Sketchbook

Hi this is my first sketch book on CA. I'm a self taught artist and these are a few drawings I did throughout this year. I draw girls quite often because I find it easier, but I hope joining CA will enable me to do more studies and improve in all aspects.

    Enjoy!

    Welcome Sweetie.

I really love the way you do hair, they are all awesome, but done is so different styles. I normally have some kind of problem doing hair, so I really appreciate them. Also your face studies are really nice - you seem to enjoy doing them. But I think that you could perhaps benefit from doing studies of hands and feet. They seem to be perhaps little flat on your pictures comparing to other parts. But don't worry, nothing that practise wouldn't fix.

And doing environment studies is always brilliant. I have to admit, I am somewhat lazy in that area, so points for that.

I hope to see more of your works.

    Thanks, I appreciate that

Already, I can tell that looking at the studies on CA is helping me. I do definitely need to get away from the face and work on hands, feet, and the body as a whole.

Thanks I do draw guys from time to time, though I don't think they are nearly as fun to dress up, lol.

Oh, darling, I forgot to mention, that if you like (at least I find it helpful) you could perhaps but a link to your sb as your signature, so people would easier find this.

Hi! What I like about your art is the hair in general and the folds and drapery of the girl in the pink dress. The lines look also quiet solid and the rendering with color pencils (right?) fits with your style very well. What you should do now is to study some anatomy because I see some problems here. Maybe get some Loomis books and draw draw draw
    Keep it up!

    Kawauchi: thanks
GunTrouver: Most colored pieces are color pencils, but the pink dress is actually digital color on graphite. Thank you for the book suggestion I'll look into it.

Here are some studies of hands, feet, and anatomy, also a quick paint in Photoshop. I have so much trouble with digital color and painting. Also, I found that life studies are very difficult. I guess its just about getting that mental image and holding on to it.

great work with all the studies! with your attempt at realism, well the first thing that
I was able to notice was you where coloring with cartoon shades, real life is more like
a spectrum of color, there will be shades of blues, greens, purples, grey blues in the shadows, grey purples, reds greens in the shadows, for instance if your standing next to a green table cloth and light is shining in from the window and bouncing on to the table
it will hit your hand with that color of green, anyways keep at it !

it's good you've decided on what you want to spend some real time on, but your figure doesn't have a strong foundation. her left thumb looks stretched too much, and her right arm looks dead and about to drop off - this might be because it's too straight, but also probably not connected the shoulder very well. the legs too, don't seem connected to the pelvis as they just come straight down. there also doesn't feel like there is any weight to the figure - she seems like she could blow away like paper.

but it's good you're doing some drawing from life, and feet studies. go back to the basics and then update on your characters when you're more confident with your base form.

her upper body looks flat, and i'm not sure how she is balancing her body by standing on her tip toes..

lvoely stuff, youve definitely got talent. the red head is great; nice cloth, cute looks, well resolved hair, nicely coloured.. strong studies too, i particularly like the feet, keep up the good work!

Maybe too over board with adding more realistic colors (greens/blues)? Again, any critique to realism is very helpful!
