The Appreciation of the Masculine Form Thread [nsfw]

    Hullo Everyone!.

I've noticed a trend lately in the lounge that unfortunately has not been a positive one. As you might have noticed, there have been several threads relating to the objectification and sexualization of women. Now I consider myself a feminist, though not a militant one, and I've been trying to think of positive ways of combatting this trend rather than simply constantly raging against it, and this is my thought.

Last week in the Girl's forum I posted two thread: One called "The Appreciation of the Masculine Form" thread and the other "The Appreciation of the Feminine Form" thread, both of which you can see I've have now moved here. This is where we post many pictures of beautiful people, with many many different conceptions of beauty. These threads were objectifying either sex, but rather to deal with sexuality and beauty in a way that doesn't belittle either party.

Basically, the idea is to let everyone let off a little steam and post pictures of people they attractive, or even just interesting! (For those that don't have a specific gender, or have changed genders, please post them in whichever thread they usually identify more with.) Let's show that we can deal with beauty, aestetics, sexuality and gender in a relaxed, comfortable and non-offensive manner, and see some really awesome pictures (and get some really awesome reference) to boot.

Feel free to tell me if I'm bonkers, but I really think that we can turn the current tide around into a positive, gender-inclusive and comfortable atmosphere for everybody. :]

    Great idea.

Sorry if it feels like I'm spamming the thread, but I just had to post Alan Rickman. It's the nose and voice.

Then there's Jeff Goldblum. Again the nose, but all his features and limbs are an exaggeration, which make an appealing whole.

Random reference that I found fascinating as it shows vulnerability.

You know what I find disturbing? That's it's so easy to portray a female as sexy either in a slutty or in a tasteful way but it's so hard to do that with guys. I find that attempts to portray guys as sexy either some out funny or gay. I don't think there is anything inherent to guys that explains that so it has to be cultural. Isn't that sad?

I think you right. The Greeks had it right years ago, where the beauty of the male was much more appreciated.

It's tough finding pictures with the same feel. I wish the lighting wasn't so harsh here.

Objectifying chicks? On the internet? Nope. Didn't notice.

I agree with Qitsune. Male sexy pics always feel super gay. I'd love to find some that aren't trying to be sexy, but are more action-like. Because, face it, the female form just works better when it's objectified.

I have it the other way around, the female thread looks partially awkward for me while I have no problem with vulnerable or feminine traits on heterosexual men (I prefer it much over the image of the strong male).
It's really just a matter of taste and habit :>

Little bump for this thread, I'll try and post some less safe stuff later. Have a bunch of stuff on my HD for reference, but I didn't save the images with the photographers' name with it so...Figured this statue should be in here though

Actually, this might also be a good thread to discuss or post the changes over time of what was considered 'beautiful'. Like, ancient Greek probably had a slightly different idea of beauty than most people have now? Or maybe not? What about 40 years ago?

Edit: Okay checked my ref folder a bit more. Not going to post the bloated bodybuilder pics here, but figured I could post some random stuff I found.

I gathered a bunch of ref from Till Lindemann, the singer from Rammstein, for a ChOW round I never finished. The man has an awesome presence on stage, totally different than when he's doing interviews and stuff. Probably not what a lot of people would call a classic beauty though.

And a random bodybuilders image that isn't totally bloated and on steroids, those are surprisingly hard to find.

Hm think most of these came from my folder for anatomy reference, I might have some stuff that shows more emotion elsewhere. I'm more one for robots and gears anyway

i always find the way greeks handled torso and particularly the abdominal areas interesting. The rib cage and seratus anterior muscles being very visible in their intersection with the rectus abdominus.Ive found it hard to find reference for such a clearly defined rib cage although not impossible still seems to me more prevalent in the greek depictions of males than modern males.

Aditionally I believe we favor a larger chest and arms these days but still the same focus on those obliques though.

Dan!, that would be the difference between a greco-roman wrestler (which was an ideal in classical times I suppose) and a bodybuilder/fitnessmodel of today.

Take a look at MMA-fighter and former Olympic alternate at Greco Roman wrestling, Randy Couture.

Even though he is 46, he still looks quite a lot like David's physique.

I'll have to agree, even without having pert buns my husband has a very sexy walk and I like to walk behind him to appreciate it better. My mum also agrees and we giggle like school girls.

I love the contrast on this his skin is so beautiful and dark
    another back shot
    Very well defined, great lighting.

Found quite a bit here http://sexyblackdudes.blogspot.com/2...1_archive.html

I'm a sucker for contrast with skin tones. It's nice to see very dark skinned people photographed well.

I recall in the "think before you post" thread that we are now recommended to say when we are offended rather than retaliating.

    Well, for the record:
I am offended by the apparent ongoing attitude that it's men who do everything that's wrong in the world, or on the internet, or whatever. There were multiple posts about men by a woman in those other threads that offended me and I didn't say anything about being offended at that time because I am a grownup who voluntarily entered a free marketplace of ideas. I'm done.

You may now resume your previously scheduled appreciation of the male form. The video is not to my taste, but most of the rest of it is pretty good.

We don't think that, it's just that sometimes the testosterone takes over a bit too much. I didn't like the vid either. The whole thing is to learn about how to appreciate different types and standard of beauty, but it's hard to locate some examples, say traditional Japanese, on the internet. Broadening the view of what can be considered sexy is also an aim; there is too much emphasis on the western ideal as opposed to what other cultures considered beautiful. Join us in the search for more wonderful and varied forms of beauty. Maybe we can all learn from this.

I don't think men do all the wrong in this world, I'm not one to hang out with other females a lot either because I tend to also be bothered by feminine attitudes too.

As for the vid, at least it's one vid, not people posting multiple vids/animations of "bouncing" and then people quoting those same things (quoting images or vids of the same thing is one of my pet peeves, lol - I saw it already stop posting it as it's on the same damn thread). That doesn't excuse behavior that all men are bad either.

I like men, I get along with them just fine (and yeah women too) my Chinese sign is year of the Dragon which is considered most compatible with Cock.

If you are offended, I think it is important to voice your opinion. I believe it can help others to see from your point of view and perhaps consider things that they might not have considered previously. I think that is part of the advantage of having an free marketplace of ideas. I'd be interested in hearing your opinion, particularly because I worry that I might be the one who offended you.

Back to male forms..... I absolutely love how Rodin sculpts men. 'The lines are strong, and soft, like they're formed of mud.

I can understand the argument, and I hope you don't think this thread is meant to attack any of you. I probably don't see a lot of the discrimination the other way simply because I'm female and thus much more attentive to things directly relating to me. So, let's try to make it more positive both ways. :]

As a personal note, if i ever say anything to offend anyone, please let me know. I'm probably just not totally thinking things through before I type them.

In the meantime, just wanted to say that there are some awesome images in both threads so far. Thanks so much, everyone!
