Here is my latest EOW challenge work. As you can see in the Wips, I drew the bridge abutment freehand first time, which sucked badly so, I went into Sketchup, (almost never used it before) and made a simple model just so the perspective was better. I then continued from there in photoshop.

Thought I would stick in my latest work which was done for this weeks COW challenge. Hope you like it.
My concept for our Biped Insectoid challenge was a species called "Whistling Jackson Bugs" after they were discovered to make whistling noises and dance similar to Michael Jackson to attract females during mating season.

I have started taking part in the DSG here on ca.org. Good fun. Here are my first 2 tries. The first was for the title, "Kaya and her crazy dinosaur" and the second was, "Wild West Cowboys face off with the Biggest Guns Ever".

good work, a lot of finished pieces. You render pretty well and you have a good imagination. I might suggest pushing the value range a little bit on some of them.
Your faces do seem stretched a bit, I think its happening below the cheekbone.
There is a web site called Scribd. They have some Bridgman, Andrew Loomis, and Hogarth books you can view for free if you dont have them already. Good books for
    anatomy.

Keeps sharing! I really like your landscapes.

I might take part if I have time. More likely to go for the COW this week though.
Here is the next sketch I did for DSG to the title, "Alien plains predator takes down its galloping alien prey". It is really hard for me sticking to the 1 and a half hour time limit and not going into detailed rendering.

I was bored so I started a weapon concept. I don't know if I will take it further but here is what I have so far. A little blurry.....I know.

Did you get inspired by Blackwolfman over at IFX to do this waepon? Looking good. I think you should take it further. It has a speedie look to it. I like your day at the monster fair.

Thanks mate. No, I don't know who that is but I will nip over for a look. I always liked looking at weapon concepts so where on IFX can I find these ones?

Okay, worked more on the weapon concept. Still not sure I would call it finished. Lost that camouflage look in the speedie and the shape has changed but I like it more now. Seeing as it is my first weapon design let me know what you think.

Not bad, loads of the stuff you got here man, but the weapons concept you have here does not make much sense to me.

Thanks. Could you be more specific about why it makes no sense. Is it just an un-realistic design or what? Since I never did one before I wasn't sure if to base closely on real guns or to wing it a little.

Here is my latest DSG pic. This weeks title was "Camel-like Alien Beast". The first is the sketch I submitted and the second is the fully rendered version. I am not claiming original concept here as, whilst not remembering it at the time, I now know the mouth parts are very similar to those of the vampires in the Blade 2 movie.

Nice tidying-up on the camel! I think the pistol works better as a building (tip it 90º clockwise)...

I don't know anything about weapons but that gun painting is really wonderful. It looks very real. The camel is also really cool, but the alien mouth feels very disconnected from the rest of the drawing. Its really nice though, I'm looking forward to seeing more!

William: Lol, I thought the same thing when I had finished! Maybe I will turn it into a building. Glad to see I am not alone in that! Thanks for the reply.

majortom: Thanks! I know what you mean. I was tempted, (and still might) put strings of mucus or saliva connecting the mouth parts and head in general. Part of the problem is that I am better at painting from reference than from imagination so the mouth parts are not as good as the rest due to lack of decent reference.

Here is my latest work. I wanted to improve my skin tones painting and anatomy in general so I found an image I liked as reference and worked it up as photo-realistically as possible. I personally feel that photo realism is a little pointless in that it looks so close to the photo that you might as well use the photo itself but I wanted to try anyway. There will be more ladies to follow but I will try a looser style I think.
The last image is my latest sketch for the DSG.

Thanks for stopping by man. Yeah, I love EOW but haven't done one for a while. Too busy finishing other works and trying to sketch for DSG regularly.
This latest sketch sucks. I joined the Portrait day for the first time with only around an hour. Tried using a sort of rake brush for texture and though it looks like it, I am not Ginger haired.
