lovely pencils you have here - also I particularly like the first acrylic on this page of the girl. You said they were hard but you have definitely got some skills with a brush so keep on working away!

Hay man, the observational work you've been up to on the past couple of pages is really nice, especially on these last posts! Also, i saw a few little kamen riders hidden here and there that made me smile, cool stuff.

you're doing good, keep it up!

Replying your generous comment and though on my sb

Well, actually what i meant for lifeless drawing was "the drawing as a resulf of tracing method" (I traced the initial sketch because I wanted to keep that "lively" drawing, then I inked the traced one) not "the tractor/constructional drawing" (I do love constructional approach because I feel it really challenge my left brain) hehehe

But indeed, your comment clicked in my mind, especially about even lines. It made me remember about what been said Harold Speed's The Practice and Science of Drawing. Drawing is kinda seeking the unity in what we create (rhytm, harmony, etc). But it could be no perfect unity, since perfect unity would bring death to artwork and make it plain boring. So the solution is adding some variety (line weight, expressive stroke, etc) to infuse the life back into our artwork...
Maybe my "drawing as a resulf of tracing method" feels so lifeless was because it was a perfect unity with no variety. Damn accurate straight lines, but have no expression and line weight...

Of course, the inked one (final version) is much better than the traced one, but the dirty initial sketch is still give me more pleasure when I see it hahaha

Thank you very much for sharing your thought, mate!!

BluezAce - perfect unity doesn't have to mean uniformity. unity simply means bringing together parts that are different in a balance, where certain things are subordinated to others for the good of the whole piece. keep learning, and working at it hard, man, and you'll get there...and that's all there is to it.

wit - duuuuude, sorry i've been away so long. as always, though, i've been looking, aaaaaaaaaaand i like what i see! great job with the colored pencil portraits, i really like how you use minimal line and really let the tone do the talking. very cool...i need to learn how to do that more. with your creature design painting, i think it looks nice, but compositionally, that one on the right seems to be leading the eye off of the page, and there isn't really anything to keep it on there. i think if you switched the long one and the one just to the left of it, that might help. not sure what you intend to do with it, but just giving a suggestion if you were intending to take it further. anyway, just wanted to pop by and give a hey! you're doing great man, keep at the journey. and keep having fun along the way. cheers!

purb: Purby! Thanks for comments and suggestions. You really are a supportive fellow Glad to know that you are still following my sketchbook. About that creature design composition. I agree. It took the viewer away from the piece. I did plan to change the whole piece, but I don't know if I can finish it. It's for COW, btw.

Finally a portrait painting practice, start this with dark blocks first and carving the lights out bit by bit. Luckily it's digital, 'cuz I'll be frustrated if it were acrylic or gouache Have to try it out sometime though

Interesting new stuff mate!!!your sketches are becoming better.
Here i did a paintover in this last one because i find it really good and with great potential. Just take care of everything major element in the beginning.U didnt work out the values a lot. It looked kinda flat without shadows. Also some overal soft brushtrokes to unite somethings and make better blending, is needed.
    Keep up the good work!!!

    Wow...

you have many things going on in your head and it is all good in my book! I just scrolled through all your pages and saw many images. You have a great work ethic and I see it showing in what you are producing. I don't really have much else to say at this point. I like that you are pushing yourself with various styles and techniques as it helps one formulate what may work best. Although believe it or not there are many jobs you get where you may be asked to do different styles. So keep at it going and continue to draw from life when you can, but keep pushing your imagination like you are.

Also I like that you are trying different compositions. That is something I have to work on more. Although with art we all have to constantly work on all the skills as it never ends!

Thanks for checking out my section and the tips...later.

Hey witcrack, thanks for visiting my SB! I'm doing fine myself, how are you?
I really like This sketch it really reminds me of Craig Mullins sketches. Wich is quite a big compliment I reckon
This is also awesome, ever heard of them crooked vultures? Because it totally reminds me of their album art!
I'm loving these last pages, keep it up!

    Nice new images...

Both are pretty good and it is great that you experiment in different styles. The skull is pretty great for a logo type sticker. Keep on plugging away as they say.

    Hey all!

wi2rd: Thanks man, glad you enjoy it
Luckers: Wow yeah man, that's definitely a generous compliment. thanks man! I'm doing fine, busy with jobs but it's all fun, I got a bit addicted to a video game though *must overcome it ASAP!* Never heard of Crooked Vulture before, good band after I check, thanks for that, Hard Rock is good in my book and plus Dave Grohl is in there . Anyway, thanks again for your support mate
Hipalien: Thanks for the encouragement man

    ---

So I tried playing League of Legend and... got addicted. Damn. That isn't right, I must get over it ASAP before it gets unhealthy. IT HURTS MY DRAWING SKILL! So this one is a skin concept for one of the hero in the game. A desperate act to at least make some art out of it:

Now here's what I'm planning on doing in my free time. I'm gonna paint my tote bag based on this design. Maybe acrylics. The idea is inspired by the novel "Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn. The Original photograph belongs to Jacques-Henri Lartigue. Hope I can make it.

OMG! The last dragon is the bomb! xD Soooooo cute!!!
    Love the idea))
You did a great job on that plane! Maybe to make it a bit better you could make the background more lighter? Like - fog? sky? light from the sun.
    Hope that helps)
    Cheers my friend)

I really love the progress and the stuff you do for the activities. Busy busy busy. Sorry for not comming by again sooner, but sometimes live gets in the way of concetart and sometimes I just don´t feel like it. *meh*

Anyway, you might find this usefull, I post my exploits from collecting
references and textures in this thread. That´s was one of the reasons or
excuses for absence. Lotza tanks and tank tracks to come. Let my know what you think, plz
