Please help me by critiquing a WIP at the end of this thread! I will make you cookies. (Perhaps by drawing them, but you can imagine how they taste.)

Hello, I'm new, and instead of talking so much in the critique thread I will post my old sketches. These are from a sketch using a steel-nibbed pen and india ink.

such a dirtyness isnt much seen on here, i like it

i think a little bit more subtlety here and there might make them even more interesting!

I definitely want to keep it if you like it, but what does dirtiness mean?

Edit: I do dig into the paper a bit with the nib so you can see some fibres in the wet ink. If that's what you mean, then I will halt my efforts to stop tearing up the paper so much

what i mean is that you use a lot of colors, and let them blend on the paper as well. it doesnt look like you are really careful with your colors, or lines, which you could work on, but you do it in a right way. it has a nice dark and dirty look. im not sure if dirtyness is the right word, but thats what i call it

I think I agree with you for now because I use inks a lot and I like being messy with them, but as soon as I get a tablet or get mine fixed I want to be very careful with my colours and lines so watch this space, I guess...

So the idea behind this is that a nocturnal woman-like creature is startled by a bright light while bathing. I want to make her face horrible and terrifying, but her expression frightened. Because I like being confusing. Any crits on the pose and the perspective and the shadows, or anything really, are very, very welcome. I've spotted some things I think are wrong but I don't want to mess with it too much before I have someone else's opinion...

Edit: I should add, in case it isn't obvious, that this is a WIP in the very first stage.

I really like the loose, flowing stylization you have in your work. I like the foot piece the best.

For your latest piece I think the basic anatomy is good. Just ensure that the head doesn't get too big. As long as you encompass the hair within the border you have outlined, I believe it will work.

I drew a rough redline to illustrate what I meant.

on your latest pic her legs seem bigger than the rest of her but it's probably just me, i think her head should be positioned just a bit higher than the paintover CharReed did though, can't wait til you get your wacom, i wanna see what you do with it

Hey, with your comment on my sketch, I decided to check out your work and give your sketchbook some love. Your stuff is great! As it's been said, your inks are phenomenal. They flow into each other beautifully, the message and the picture as well as details are not lost, or even really that muddled. It just flows, it's kinda like poetry in ink form.

Can't wait to see your CG stuff.

love tank- I comment on a lot of stuff because I am a postwhore. I will hunt around and revisit your sketch ASAP. Thank you very, very much for taking a look in here!

miycko- I've been stressing out about her legs a lot. Sometimes they look althletic and long, other times they look just wrong. I'm going to try to plan her face Loomis-stylee and block in the background and then see what to do with her legs. But you're definitely spot-on.

Note to anyone subscribed to my sketchbook:
I am moving my entire life across the country. This means that I will be completely neglecting my inks and paints for a bit, as I am currently not in possession of an assembled desk.

Expect to see some pencil sketchies of my hotel room(s) and my fish (who's coming with us in the car, poor thing).
