    some animation stuff

    Hey there -

New to the forums. I am primarily an After Effects animator - making sort of boring corporate-type stuff I won't bore you with. But I've done a few drawing-based 'real' cartoons that I thought I'd show. Cos I like em.

TV ad for an insurance company (After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, Wacom):

three ten second "stings" for a music store (AE, AI, Wacom):

TV ad for a radio station (After Effects & Sharpie drawings, cleaned up and colored in Photoshop):

I've got more stuff on my site if you are interested: http://www.standard-design.com/multimedia.html

    Good character reaction. Nice flow.

    Hey, these are pretty good!

I'm curious if you have worked with Flash at all. AE and Flash are very powerful when put together. Illustrator is a time saver when it comes to creating vector graphics, but Flash is the best for animating vectors. Are you using the puppet tools in After Effects for these animations?

I like the whimsical designs, they work well. They do have a feel reminiscent of early Rocky and Bullwinkle-esque animated features.

Very nice ads, love the retro/UPA sort of feel on the Turn It Up! ads. Cool seeing someone using After Effects for more puppet based work, I haven't seen that a whole lot recently (might just be looking in the wrong places though). Either way good work!

Lovely start! I think you'd be interested in some animation books out there. I think one is the animators survival guide. It has some good stuff on spacing that would really help you get you animation looking smoother.
