I love the studies of basilisk heads. They're one of my favorite animals. I had the pleasure of spotting a couple in a national park in Costa Rica when I visited there earlier this year. The ostrich feet are quite nice, and I recognize those hyena pictures from the ImagineFX dvd on the one robot issue.

The dragon sketch looks excellent. I hope you manage to finish it in time.

Si_Swe - Thanks man! yeah that issue of IFX was filled with some nice photos, I think its the one with tigers too. Basilisk lizards are cool! I think all reptiles are cool hehe I got the pics from this site - http://www.naturephoto-cz.com/ - tons of great photos, low resolution though.

ChromaticCodex - Haha nice! gogo draw those lizards! thanks

Metal Fingers - Thanks man! now that I look at the wings, they seem a bit off, found a ref I'm gonna try to follow. Updates to come!

    Wr00m
    - lol yeah you do that! haha, sjukdom är enda sättet att hålla sig frisk i denna dysfunktionella värld. Vi får sketcha lite i malmö till sommar!

    Parsakoira - Thanks man!

wip wip. Hope I'll have something reasonable for the deadline. Wings are so difficult, but found a ref that shows how off the dragons wings are gonna change them.

hey man, i'm lovin those studies you did, ostriches are pretty badass, but cassowaries are pure charles bronson...anyways, it's cool that your doing studies based around the anatomy of a dragon, there's no better way to do it, right? keep up the sweet work man, cheers!

Looking forward to seeing your entry develop for this week's cow! You've got some serious talent, bro! Perhaps one day I'll be able to reach almost the same level as yours! Congrats on your win for the Redhot Speckled Rock Muncher! I'm a little astonished that, that was your only win so far, but I'm sure there are more to come!

Hey guys, finished the dragon. Right now it feels like I got more things wrong than right in this image.. arh.. It has that "overworked versus too loose" feeling that I somehow manage to get most of the times.

Nothing can be said except back to do studies, and tons of them.

replies later, sorry rob, I'm just dead tired

that dragon looks great. i can already see a little better structure from those studies i dont think the "overworked/too loose" thing is a technical problem - i think its just you waiting till the last day to work on things i have the same problem haha.
im looking forward to studies from you. youve gotten this far without doing very many(that im aware of), after you do studies youre gonna get sooooo much better!

take care man, ill be droppin by

I agree about ostrich feet!! Like the studies though! I don't think the dragon is overworked...but just IMHO.

Your line quality is superb. Saying that, I feel your sketch for the latest COW was slightly more interesting to look at than your final. Though your color choice is great as usual, and the design is tight, just for this one the linework had something special... Im babling... keep it up!

echoing those yellows on his paws in the wing membranes would help add some rhythm to his patterning. good stuff though man.

lancer_idenoure - Thanks man, you're too right yeah, I haven't really done many painting studies no. See you around

Jephyr x - Thanks! perhaps not overworked, rather underworked in many areas.

Baconstrap - You're welcome! keep studying!

    Hive_minD
    - Yeah I get that a lot and I don't know what to do about it I'll have to find a way to preserve the feeling of the lines when painting!

Rebecka - Thank you see you around!

IdaS - Thanks! you've got some nice work in your sb too!

Metal Fingers - Thanks! yeah, there are many things I'd like to fix. Have to bring the experience with me to the next image!

Thanks guys and girls. Working on some thumbs to the latest COW, more to come!

Perhaps you should keep the lines a little longer, even show them through some times. Not sure if it will help but could be worth a try.
Love the Cow thumbs. I am constantly considering to join COW, but lack the time now that I am in my final semester. Though maybe, just maybe I can make some time for this one, then start kicking it off more often in the summer.

    Keep on keeping on
