TunaCrackers - thank you very much! glad you like em, more coming up
Sukizan - great, keep using animals for ref when you need. Will drop by, cheers.
Giorge - Ah allright, yea, too many studies can easily get boring toothough.. boobs? naaah. I agree with the strokes, still not creative enough with the brushwork. Thanks!
KingKostas - thanks man, I do agree. I did wrong allready from the beginnig. SHould've checked some other artists half-underwater works. Some of the winning COW's look like that.. anyway, next time.
JesArt - thanks alot! well you're right.. these are pornstars (mainly) that I use as ref for figuredrawing.
cl0aked - thanks, these are from reference.
MischeviousLittleElf - Hey, noice of you to drop by.. and I totaly agreeperky indeed.. I realise that some of theese girls really have too big boobs, doesn't look good with their body. I find natural much more beautiful.
JoshDArtist - woa thanks! glad to hear that, keep working and experimenting with colours and you'll get there. And thanks for the compliment, just trying to share what I allready know, and learn from everyone else
Man Made God - Thanks a bunch mate! I think I did wrong from the beginning, and in the end just went for the easy shady fade (WoW style"underwater mist") but yea you're right - could've pulled it off better. Thanks for pointing it out, will take it into consideration.
Retardedmonkey - haha! Thwomp Crompers are known for their feminin curves
miycko - thank you!
Forgeman - Thanks, sure try it and see if its to your liking. I've tried many different ones and I feel this one works best for me. Gives a lot of room for playing with colours and intuitive painting. I'll make a quick step-by-step walkthrough to show how I work soon.
Thanks everyone for all the inputs and kind words. It's what keeps me going and enjoying this so much!
Went to live figure drawing today, havnt been there for like 6 months. It was great fundrawing those girls really payed off. Also posting some nude studies of girls from a few days ago.
cheershaving so much fun!
The live drawing sketches felt dynamic. You could try to reduce the amount of strokes so it is more readable.![]()
Yay skill burning!!!A lot of work, you will fly up really fast in the next anatomy levels
You sharpen them in the end?
CheckBiomechawolf
Holy updates XD , you make me look lazy lol
Huey Yeng - thanks! I wll try that next time
Kingkostas - No sharpening, though I multiply them to make the lines more visible.
Lapada - hahaI've been lazy now these days
.. more lazyness.. gotta pick it up again during the weekend =/ A well, trying some sillhouettes. Found this blogg http://artorder.blogspot.com/ with some great challenges and tips and ideas, will follow it for a while now.
The current topick is Hurakan, god of storms and step 1 in the 6step process is to make basic sillhouettes.. never tried before. great fun.
Also started working on a small step-by-step on how I work since there's been some interest.
Here's a quick dragon from basic shapes to linework - it's important to nail the feeling of the creature at this state, will it be massive? slender? give the impression of the fast creature or slow-moving? it all comes down to how the hips and chest are shaped. Decided on an all-round look for this one.
Step 2 is giving volume to the bodyparts, adding muscles and so on. This is just some imaginative anatomy based on what I know about human and animal anatomy, with some basic knowledge the outcome can become quite credible. I tend to go for the dinosaur look with the hindlegs.. guess I have it from my childhood when I only drew dinosaurs
Step 3 is more puting it all together, making sure it's ready for the final step of detailing. Whats important before adding scales and going crazy with details is to make sure the proportions are working and that the dragon works over-all, most of the time you wouldn't need to render details in some areas of the dragon so it's important not to go all out with scales and stuff since they wont be visible in shaded areas etc.
The over all look goes before awesome details sadly
step 4 is basically adding scales and refining parts, I felt the tail was too thin and added some mass to it, also the chest appears a bit too small so might get into that.
Normaly after this I go and multiply some gray shades over the piece, and then laying down colours over the gray. That way I can with opacity set to pen-pressure get many different hues just by varrying the pressure. Gives intuition a lot to work with, and most often I dont follow the steps as I did here, though in general it's what I aim for.

Thank you for all the kind words!
This was apparently me partyweekend, thereof lack of stuff.. ah 2 days of nightlife and I can settle down with some art again! I have my first university exam on this upcoming friday... yaey... It's ging to be interesting. Moral philosophy and ethics makes you think alot.
Anyhow, here's the rest of the dragon. As I mentioned earlier, the following step is a wash of gray shades over the linework. I really keep it loose here, just filling the whole dragon out. I havn't tried adding highlights at this point, could be an idea. Further experimentation will have to tell
After that I add colours set to multiply and let the underlying layer of gray it's part. The gray adds for a lot of huevariation. Here I try to settle the whole feeling of the creature before going into rendering. Also nothing is final at this step.. anything can be changed.
I create a new layer above all the other layers, set to normal - and start rendering. Picking out different hues from the dragon. The good thing about having the gray underneath is that you will never have too high saturation, so if you need to make a bodypart really stand out you can add highly saturated colours.
As you can see in the final "speed-paint" I re-designen the backlegs and the head aswell as the frontlegs.. they just didnt feel right. That's how I usually work.. try to set a plan and end up not following itenjoy.
sooo siick O:!! how long did it take before you mastered the art of dragons, btw I'd like to see you do a dragon battle scene with 2dragons fighting o: and maybe a under water dragon pic with BG lol. But these are just my fantasy.
hey man, take your layer with the lines and turn down the opacity until they are a grey color, and you won't have to worry about getting rid of all those black specs in the render stage. you can really waste a lot of time taking care of those blacks spots.
prout prout u should also just expand the canvas in the front...instead of squishing the head...that's pretty lazy of u
I think those black spots are important for the feel of the painting. So I like them![]()
dragons dragons dragons ^^
I only just now discovered your sketchbook and i'm blown away
by your awsome dragons and anatomy.
The last dragon rocks man! The design and colors are amazing.

Keep on rocking fellow svenne!
Hugs from Em!
Sukizan - Thanks! I will definitely do that! Im growing tired of thise profile dragons.. expect some better dragons soonmastered the art of dragons? ohh, it will take some time before I do that. However I started drawing dragons when I was 7 years old.. so 12 years.

Fleshed out the sillhouettes with pencil.. these suck. My pencilwork bad, and the scanner makes it even worse.. However I learned a thing or two, and the next renders will definitely be better![]()
Also made some COW sketches.
Red Hot Doom is the topic, and could litterly be anything.. What would happen if Behemoth and Leviathan had a baby together? ... yea, thats right.. we get Dooom!
