Went and had a look at your old sketchbook, and it gives me an optimistic view of starting a sketchbook, because you've increased in skills in such a short time it's impressive. I really like seeing people like you who come along, and all of the sudden have people around you with jaws dropped to the floor.
I think I'll study your work some more, maybe I'll learn something.
haha cool shit dude really nice kipp it upp!
sorry fore the englich rock on
i fuckin love drawing
Ryn - Haha.. you have my permission to/\ dropkick methank you.
Ashrumm - Thank you very much. In the beginning I struggled a lot with the tablet, it has its limits. Now I enjoy it a lot, though I too often find myself having to hold the pen in awkward positions to be able to get a special line or soMaybe it's improved with intuos 4, I use an intuos 2.
Darktwin - Thanks!
JoshDArtist - thank you
/\/\use - thanks.
Buckster - Nice to have you back mate. Thank you.
Monotony - haha thank you!![]()
Kingkostas - thanks man
Maq - I'm really glad to hear that. You should definitely start a sketchbook of your own, not only is it fun but it also is a huge motivation boost. I hope you find something in my old thread, I spent most of my time there experimenting with different methods of rendering. I feel I have found one that suits me well, if there's anything I can help with just ask.
Sevarange - Thanksme too.. drawing is the shit.
Thanks alot all! this keeps me going, really makes me want to do more.. Only a simple sketch today. Hopefully I'll have some more tommorow and more work on the chow. cheers
Got a huge inspiration boost from Blizzard's new WoW expansion pack and the details they unveiled regarding Diablo III. I'm like allpld: .. have to calm down and draw some more

I think my Diablo piece won the fan-art contest. It's not official yet, but my name is on their homepage so...![]()
MAN, thats huge iinformation. Congratulations , you really deserve it, did i say that i love your style?
I get through your previous sketchbook-and i must say that your improvement is ....amazing(damn so much big words but i really have these impressions)
Can you give me advice and tell me what made you progressing so fast?
Gratz man! Gillar drakarna, göttigt med balansen mellan rött och grått. najs najs.
Witek - Thank you so much for your kind words![]()
My progress has little to do with actually painting much. When I began my first sketchbook I was really inspired by many others and determined to improve, though I didn't draw so often. Sometimes it took weeks before I updated and yet I improved.
What worked for me was to find pieces of art that were really inspiring, look at your favorite artists and try to find out by looking at the work what makes it so great. There's a small line between drawing from your mind and studying references.
I got the tip from many to do anatomy studies and it helped me alot. I think the fastest improvement was when I could apply what I learned from reference to my imaginative work, for example, knowing how a human leg bends and how the muscles look like gives you the key to distort the entire leg. I tend to give my dragons human-like limbs because I havn't studied reptile legs or mammals. Though I generally know what a cats hind-legs look like. With that knowledge I can make dragonlegs based on human legs.
What made me progress fast... determinition, and enjoying what I did. Also you'll have many days where you tell yourself "hell I really should do something today, draw something, but I can't". When I had those days I tried to force it, in the end sometimes I could.. but most of the times I couldn't and ended up on hiatus for days. When summer began I told myself that since I cannot force myself to paint, I'll force myself not to paint. I hardly drew anything for 2 months. Instead I visited museums and wrote down Ideas of what I want to paint and tried to visualize it. I also told myself to really get into art when I begin again.
Basically you should be determined to improve, listen to your inner self, accept that some days you can't do anything, know what you want to do and most important, enjoy. Also don't be afraid to fail and do mistakes. When you let go of the fear of doing something wrong on the piece and trust your intuition instead, you'll find yourself being able to do things you never could.. By experience it was most difficult for me to do, draw on a blank canvas with nothing but a hint of what I want, and then just trust it'll turn out right.
Ugh, long post, hope it helps!
Wasker - Tackar! Jo, har man lite gråare toner i bilden lyser det röda fram så mycket mer
Another dragon in red. A bit sloppy
wohoo ... way-da-go! really like the contents of the 2-nd sketchbook , looks like you took a refresh to , your stuff is starting to have more spunk , cheers for that , keep it up!

Holy shit, you most likely won!! Congrats lol.
Man, these dragons are badass, really nice shape design and colour variation. Your linework is really fluid too, great start. No crits, keep it up!![]()
Giorge - Thanks man![]()
Sevarenge - thanks! I'll definitely drop by.
Man Made God - It is official now! I checked their forums and a representative posted the winners and said we would get mails soon. I'm so excited! Preciseley when I need a new computer I win one heh.. divine intervention. Thanks mate
Another dragon.. I feel like im slowly running out of designs haha, I hope not, havn't even left the red hues yet
Tons of colour improvement though, I'm finding it to be a great way of trying out which colours work well with which and how they blend etc. For example, my eyes read the grays in this piece as blueish, though there's no blue in there. Especially around the wing. I think it has to do with the purple and the orange.. why though, I do not know![]()
dude, thanks for checking out my SB...![]()
I love what you wrote about inspiration, etc. a couple posts back up there... echoes alot of my own thoughts/feelings....
also, major congrats on the blizzard contest!! I've always said that if you do what you love, good things happen... and right when you need them to!!!
Keep it up and peace...
Josh
congratulations mate. The #44 dragon seems to be a noble-kind/humorousdragon
I like the head very much.
Keep going![]()

JoshDArtist - You're welcome man, will be checking back for more. And glad you found my words usefulThanks, I totaly agree. Do what you love and love what you do

Kingkostas - the #44 dragon is my new favorite aswell. I feel these new dragon designs are getting worse and worse hahawill have to let go a bit, more spikes and stuff! thanks.
Re-made my druid piece. Started to shape it.. Inspired by some of Ruanjias work and my walk in the forest today. Very loose and chaotic for now... this is a huge challenge for me, I never do humanoid figures, and faces are my greatest weakness
*edit* uploaded another wip

Kingkostas - Thanks alot mate! I'm planning on rendering #44 further, fix the wing and the spikes.
Another chow-update, and now off to bed. It's turning out quite nicely.. still don't like the cape, it reads as a heavy chunk of bronze right now. Will re-design it. Enjoy.
And I'm noticing these dragons are really paying off.. I've never been able to do something this professional before, and never ever in just a couple of hours.![]()

förlåt för stavningen är inte min starka sida!
Awgh, I love those dragons soooooo much. So nice. I'm going to be a jerk though and challenge you to paint one from a non-profile view. Let's see how much you've really learned from those studies!
Also grats on winning the blizzard fanart contest, that's big news. You must have been up against a lot of pros!
Nice dragons![]()
