the masterstudy on page 72 is amazing. i just looks like a quick thing, but for some reason i love these fast (atleast it looksl ike this) studies. Simple yet breathtaking. Also the monster of the week creature is very cool designed with all the claws and humanoid upperbody.

Kingkostas - Nice to see you man! trying to do my best to set up a system that works for melooking forward to learn a lot this year!
Qikalain - Thank you! I spent a few hours on it, don't know if it's considered fast but it's cool that it has a fast look to it. I take that as a huge achievement![]()
Snatti - Kul att se dig med! kommer köra hårthur är allt med dig?
Still going strong with the perspective studies. In the meanwhile I scanned some pages from one of my sketchbooks!
More pleaase!
I love these peeps.
Oh traditional porn like it very much yes.

First digital study in like almost a year (don't think I did any last semester).. damn I'm rusty. I really need to do more of these! what is actually stopping me from working on painting some studies daily? nothing really. Somewhere I have a belief that I need to finish a study in the same go, but that's very unrealistic and causes a lot of stress. I need to stop seeing achievement in 'x finished pieces' i.e "I have to finish a study to learn something", and starting seeing it in a bigger ongoing picture.. every session has the ability to teach me something new. I could be working on the same study for many days or weeks and learn something every moment that I work on it.
This particular piece is from life, with a bit of photo-ref in the end. I had a still life set up infront of me at my dad's place during holidays. I managed to finish the skull before I had to move back to school. The patterns and the majority of the pillow are from a really bad photoreference. My webcam couldn't capture the light at all so my values were completely distorted so I had to leave the background blank due to too much information loss. It also changed the temperature of the red to a cooler hue. Thanks to some notes I took before packing it down I was able to finish it!
Next week will I will start working on anatomy, as well as drawing perspective from life after having spent practicing perspective with cubes. I will also list my anatomical resourcesmore to come! Thanks for looking
Amazing progress man, will definitely be following this sketchbook, also read that you listened to Ludovico Einaudi when drawing/painting and was surprised as I was doing the same today haha, good luck with the perspective studies and keep it up![]()

Massa smaskiga bilder, kanonnajs att se mer av dina arbeten, like it a loot
i agree with your thoughts mate. Thats a great study btw, maybe i would add some hard edge[and brighter] where the skull touches the pillow, in the area where the cast shadow begins
Lets keep up!!!

Killer stuff as always man, your long posts are like bomb shells of inspiration and knowledge :p
The perspective thing is a tough one, because it's so fucking boring, but your right it is kinda important. (ive only ever briefly studied it myself)
This might be of interest to you. Israel Alvarez Carrion over at the crimson daggers did a perspective mentoring class and all the lessons and stuff are saved on his livestream and youtube - http://crimsondaggers.com/forum/thread-1536.html
stay strong buddy
oh god the awesomness, it buuurns my eeeyes! its just wow man! your linework stepped up seriously in the last 6 months, your hatching got really good too, you see to be able to express form through that 20x times better now, i encourage you to look into that perspective as well, mr frenik once gave me the useful advice to look into perspective grid methods i urge you to do the same, more than the grid understand WHY the grid works, and try to do a bunch yourself and then from that space bring stuff in there, later you can start simplifying the grid to the point just a few lines spread out evenly its enough for you to play around with, anyways keep it up and always have fun man! the creative juice that comes out when we creat shit its the most delicious juice in this life and i believe its our obligation to push ourselves and squeezing out even more and more juiceNEVER STOP! you hear me? NEVER!

Cool perspective work, are you freehanding some of it?
Slightly less a fan of the sb pages because there's an overabundance of lines
Looking forward for more
My journey
“I’ve just neverbeen good at drawing _____, so I never draw ______.” This is a circular logic offailure that a person will never escape. If you wish you were better at drawing _______, draw it!
If you aren’t very good at _______, and avoid it, you’ll never getbetter at drawing _______! This attitude is setting yourself up for a lifetime of nevergetting good and enjoying _____.
will123will - Thank you! haha that's cool. I love Einaudi's music, very soothing. Lately I've also been listening a lot to Radical Face and chillstep mixes from youtube. I can warmly recommend that as well.
MightCrawler - Tack så mycketmore to come my man!
Kingkostas - Yeah, thanks for pointing that out. I noticed something could be done with it. I rarely do a lot of adjustments to my studies after, but I think I should start to play around with some softening and hardening to certain areas to bring out the focals more. Since it's a tool that's good to know about when doing works there's no hurt in playing around with it![]()
I also agree that there should be some bouncelight in the pillow from the skull where the castshadow is. Good observations mate! Lets keep up.
Warburton - Haha glad to hear you think so!
I agree, perspective is boring if you limit yourself to cubes and geometric shapes in a constructed space. I think the fun [and challenging stuff] comes when we try to draw stuff in perspective from life. And yeah, I think it's really important if you want to be able to draw strong compositions from imagination. Because without knowledge of perspective you won't be able to draw extreme angles and arrange objects correctly in space.
Thanks a ton for the link! I checked it out and it seems really good. Definitely something I'll delve into.
See you around
LionheartGFX - Here, have some sunshades for the burnI loved your post! Lot's of feelgood vibes and energy. I can tell you're excited haha, thanks for passing some of it on to me
Thanks for the advice on the grid. I've just read a bit about it but definitely getting into that in detail soon.
I belive that the the juice you're talking about is the nectar from the mythical tree of life, and that in chosing to live our life in accordance to our deepest purpose we become an open channel for this lifegiving juice. The best thing about is that it spreads to the souls around us, inspires them and encourages them to also keep on. Yes, it's an obligation we have to ourselves to find our purpose and fulfill it. Stop? as long as I can breathe I'll keep on going. This is my purpose
Laggtastic - Thanks! glad you think sosee you around
Snatti - Fint att höra! försöker fortfarande få fotfästa i att studera.. vet att jag absolut kan ge mer! Tack för uppmuntran!
Metal Fingers - Release the kraken! your latest creatures rock man. Thanks for the visit!
TomSeas - Thanks! no, none of them are by freehand. I being careful and methodical in the beginning, trying to understand the basics of it all. However, when exploring perspective in doodles from imagination I do it freehand. In the end I would like to be able to draw seemingly correct perspective all by freehand
Hey everyone. Been busy drawing during the days, and playing games during the evenings lol. I think it's really fun to be back and draw but I still feel I need to find a balance. I am not always the best at relaxing, and instead keep pushing myself to the limit. Because of this, some of my basic needs become neglected and I suffer. I don't sleep so well.
I need to give myself a certain time each day where I really focus on just relaxing and nurturing myself.. because I tend to become manic and completely lose myself in a subject. So yeah, more self-awareness and self-nurturing I guess! I'm looking forward to spring. Then I can be out in nature and draw and sleep in the grass and smell flowersReally looking forward to that.
As mentioned, I've been working on figuredrawing this week. Trying to keep it more short and direct this time. I'm focusing on gesturedrawing and constructing the figure. Why? because I have big trouble with gesture. My figures often become stiff, and I am not so good at drawing poses from imagination. In the end I would really like to tell stories with my drawings, and that's what gesture is for.
On the other hand I seem to have a natural intuitive way of getting gesture in creatures. Lately I've really been trying to observe and analyze what I actually am doing when sketching creatures to figure out how I give them gesture. It's fun and intestering and a bit inceptionlike.. a mind in a mind sort of thing. I'll let you know if I figure something out.
Right now I'm working with Michael Hamptons book called "Figure Drawing (Design and Invention)" as well as some workshops with Glenn Vilppu.
I also have some CGMW workshops with Michael Hampton that I will start watching when I finish the Vilppu stuff, and some books with Hogarth.
The sketches here are based on Hampton and Vilppu, and some of them are from photos where I try to apply the construction. More to come! Thanks for dropping by![]()
yummy gestures and geometrical construction, man the angle of the pelvis its always my perdition gesture its possibly my favourite subject i have studied so far if i could i would draw gestures and only gestures all freaking day long by the way have you seen the short animation titled: The thought of you? man its amazing and the fluidness of the figures plus the story of it all, just seeing that made me realize how much i always think and imagine in terms of animations and scenes, i think i found the field i want to work in, we will seeeither way check it out if you havent maybe you can abstract some gestures from it i sure as hell did
im not gonna lie, i cried the first time i saw it, because im emotional like thatanyway hope you enjoy it

LionheartGFX - thanks a ton for sharing that animation! incredibly beautiful. Amazing figuiredrawing and gesture skills! daaaamn. I'll definitely try to extrat something from it
Baconstrap - Hahah! oh no! not the pantsmonster!tack så mycket, jo det är bra
Jag hoppas allt är bra med dig med!
Here are some perspective studies done during the week. Getting into 3point perspective. The cubes look all wonky and I think I know why. Basically I spread my three vanishingpoints out too much assymetrically. This in turn makes the cubes take funny shapes, even though they are in correct perspective they don't look natural. I'm also starting to notice how these studies help me in my imaginary work. I'm actually starting to feel objects in space! it's fun to notice resultsmore to come!
Oh and, I was in Stockholm today with my artclass. Went to Nationalmuseum which was awesome! saw some Rembrandts, Zorns, Hals and other amazing painters! had a great day. Now I'm full of inspiration and in a good paintingmood. Hope it'll last haha.
See you around!
good studies! Also nice perspective, i remember when i was doing those kind of images for university...they will get pretty complicated in the end...
Ilex_paul - Thanks man! Yeah I can imagine it gets complicated later on. I've been looking at some more advanced assignments. Challenging!
Did a study of a mountain landscape, and spiced it up by adding a dragon. Then I tried to do the same scene from another angle. Tough shit. Really fun though. I should do more of these
Skitgrymma landskap, gillar brushstrokesen, något du planerar att göra klart?![]()

Går fort frammåt! Riktigt fina perspektivstudier!
Sjukt inspirerande tråd i överlag och så himla fint hur du bara kastar dig in i perspektivstudierna! Tack för inspirationen! Ska springa hem och rita idag så fort jag slutat jobbet!![]()

Great work on the figures mate!! These cubes are good for structure but vilppus more rounded way is better for stiffless ones [although they tend to become chubby]. Another thing i did was take a soft iron wire[dunno exactly its name] and did a very rough human body[wrapped it with white tape]. I could bend it to extremes and get some poses like that. I may photograph it to show it. If you have some soft easily bendable iron[these that they use them by burning them to glue electronics or something] use it
Thats a great training in the dragon piece. lets keep up man!!!

TNiznet - Thanks mate!
NickyBeats - Thanks man!
Kingkostas - Yeah, I agree. Vilppu and Hampton combines both cubes and rounded volumes (cube edges to emphasize sharp edges from bone, and rounded for flesh and fat). I think a combination of both is most useful! That's a pretty cool idea! Yeah we got ironwire here at my school so I'll definitely make something like thatthanks man! keep it up as well!
Hey people, sorry for the absence! I've been doing a lot of figurestudies but too lazy to scan the pages. From now on it will be more digital work so easier to make direct updates. Here are some dragons until next time. They're very loose for now.. gonna work them some more!
take care!
