    Plan:

    Ideas
    - thumbnail themes, gather reference and inspirations
Concepts - thumbnail designs once the theme is settled, ideas for similar mood and lighting palette (to help unify the pieces)
Finals - 2 paintings each. Each portraying a version of each character with the other doing the other.

OK lets go nutzzzz! I have no scanner anymore so everything will have to be done directly into digital *gulp*

    Team Banana!

Okay! I took a loada photos from a book I borrowed from the library called "Medieval Costumes, Armour and Weapons" by Eduard Wagner, Zoroslava Drobna and Jan Durdik. It's a compilation of drawings and they're all described and dated at the bottom, so if you want the full res version Ben, let me know.

Starting off with a couple of flags for now, purely because I like how they split and wave/spiral in the wind. I've selected over 30 images from the book, so brace yourself for a big upload....

.....Crikey, do I really have to fill in the copyright thing *every time* I wanna upload stuff? I can understand why it's there but jeez.....typing in "unknown" doesn't work either. Might have to use photobucket or something instead.

    Medieval Weapons Reference

I'm not sure what weapon(s) my character will be using yet, but I thought the axe heads might help with coming up with various shapes etc. for a staff or whatever your sorcerer orc will be using. Let me know if you want anything in specific and I'll put 'em up.

Nice, Ho-man. Have you been keeping track of The Howling Loveboy's thread? There are similar shapes goin' on there, eep!

Here are some thumbnails.....not sure if I like any of them though.

I've thought of a new possible sub-theme too. Theatre~ Though that idea might be swayed by the fact that I'm listening to misc. musical soundtracks, hehe.

Hey Nao!!! I have looked at their thread. Frickin awesome stuuuuff. Nice thumbnails. I like the two at the top right most. Nice head gears especially.
Hmmm we should decide on a theme within the next few days to give us enough time to design the finals and render them.

OK, we've decided on a little sub-theme: cursed souls!!!!!!!
We each decided on characters that are a bit out of our comfort zone and need more practice on. So we have: Male Half-Elf Assassin and a Male Orc Sorcerer

Heres some reference and inspirations for I dug up. Let me know which ones u want a bigger version of, Omi!

Late night doodling... now I dont feel sleepy...
Random idea that I ended up doodling into this... his heart is chained up and linked to his body... perhaps a visual part of his curse?!?!?!

Awesome job on the reference-grabbing, Ben. Liking the sketches so far too - though the chain coming out of the chest thing looks a lot like the bad guys in Bleach, hehe. Really good sketch though, has a sinister tone to it.

Why don't start merging them? Like, the cool skull headgear, the big staff. horns etc. ? Pick the best bits and see what comes up.

Been thinking about how I want my char to look. It might be too cliche to draw a man with pointy ears like typical elves, so I'm thinking of drawing elves/pixie-type creatures and incorporating human features to them....will refine my curse for him after that.

We also have to write a paragraph to describe our characters, don't we??

Well, here are a couple of sketches put together....

Yups, I thought back to the Bleach hollows when I did that one. You know all my references dammit! Nice sketches. I like what you're doing with that mutant ear hehe. These definitely add something different n less generic.
Been grappling with a Photoshop that kept trying to crash out on me when I was getting into the swing of things grrrr. Now for some evil orc heads!
EDIT: Hahaha we both did big earlobes with piercings
EDIT: Oh and yes! We do have to do a write up

Aaahh crap, yesterday's gaming binge has really set me back! XD Will work on some stuff and post them today, prommiiissseee....

Nice orcs. I like the top right evil one with the facial piercings and the top right good orc with the tree beard. They're looking quite genie-ish atm, is that intentional? Thanks for the extra help, Ho man!

Will you be on MSN tonight? Would be easier to relay ideas that way.

    Keep up the good work~!

Just finished touching up on a sketch I did this morning before er, getting distracted.....by....[cough]Soma Bringer [/cough].

Good v Bad, though I preferred the evil one and so worked on that one more. Any idea how far we can stretch the characters' traits when drawing the other version of them??
