Waoooo... no crits ?... Have I reached perfection with this one ?...![]()
I like it, in a cute sort of way. I really like how you can see part of the bridge show through it's head.
hahaha! really cute squid! i like him! and Yes - that detail with part of bridge - nice move!
Heh, the title for this should be, "Nom nom nom."
I think you could taken more time with the details of the bridge. All the vertical cables are missing. Even if they were broken, they'd still be dangling. I also think you could be more consistent with the shadows across the squid's body. They are very dark on the underside of its head, but less so in similar places on its tentacles. It gives it a kind of uneven look.
Good work, though, and a fun concept.
digg it. not much more to say. Nice work.

Sure this is a squid and not an octopus. Picky I know but I like my slimy, inky, multi-limbed critters. They not only look and move like nothing else but taste good too.
Sorry, I've been sick for the last couple of days. Thanks a lot for all your great comments !!!!

Thanks for noticing that. I wanted to have this joke in the painting from the start. I initially had it poking though his skin but it wasn't clear, so I gave him a transparency-ish skin instead.

I think you're totally right, I was about to add them in my last pass - but I need to brainstorm that first as I don't want them to be in the way...
Thanks for pointing out the shadows, you're also right about this, I hadn't noticed it before you did... but now they hurt my eyes. I'll have to fix this.

Actually, this is indeed an octopus - I love those guys too - but Golden Squid sounded better than Golden Octopus![]()
Ok, I had time this week end to get back to this painting. I think it is now finished - I have updated the front image if you'd like to see the final version. Thanks everyone for your great comments.
