Yeah, man! Those characters are great, I really like that older man - expressive face!

Welcome back, Jaro. The Merlin figure in the initial painting is very impressive. What brought about your return?

The level of detail and realism in here is absurd. I'd love to know how you do that.

Wow, great sketchbook! You do some amazing portraits.
I really like the work you did for the Islandis cover. Great character design and beautiful colors. It looks like an interesting and fun game.
I'd love to see more colored portraits like that one.

Also, thank you for the comment and crit. Keep it up!

Wow, really great stuff. I am glad you're back, your original posts were before my time here at CA but you've got me hooked for sure! I love the texture you are able to show, especially the black and white portrait at the top of the page. I would love any advice you can share about the process of adding that extra level of detail if you're willing to. Please post more, MAYBE one day I'll have a crit for you but for now it's really inspiring.

Wooou, you just blew my mind. Really great first impression, Brilliant! I've been looking at Daves live streams and he brought up edge control to determine the focal point of the piece. Basically that the things further away from the focal point are more out of focus to bring the focal point into focus. Keep up the great work :3

LastGen - Thanks! Yeah, it was a great exercise for learning to paint wrinkles and skin texture.

FootstepsBeckon - Thankyou! Well, freelance can be a lonely way to make a living and I'm the kind of person who tends to hide away with my work and not show it to anyone unless it's absolutely necessary. It's a really bad habit to say the least. Also I miss talking to other people about art and sharing in each other's learning experiences.

GEB Hey GEB! Thanks very much! I checked out your sketch book recently, your two latest pieces are really fantastic, I wish I had painted them!

Junpei Thanks! Hey, feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

Rustveld Thanks! Yeah I need to work on more big scenes like that, with characters, environment and creatures interacting. My portfolio is lacking at the moment.

Blueflies Thankyou! Hmm, Maybe I'll do a step by step thing for the next similar piece I do and a bit of an explanation to go with it.

    Ulver Thanks Ulver!

PontusEuxinus Thanks! I'll do my best not to let it die again.

Roope Maatta Thanks! Yeah that's a great tip! I would have liked to do that for the Islandis painting, but the client wanted a bunch of things in the background to be in focus too. I'm trying to do this in my more recent work though, I definitely like the effect it gives.

    Kevinwueste Thanks Kevin!

Lane Thanks Lane, I love your work!

Just finished a whole load of client work, so it's time for some fun personal stuff!

Only a few sketches for now, I started on a bunch of things at once so I can swap from one to another when I get bored. Any crits or suggestions are highly appreciated. Thanks for looking!
