Heres my take on newborn![]()
This is the only one I managed to complete in time - an egg baby. The serpent on the cup is meant to signify that the baby is Phanes - the mystic primeval deity of procreation and the generation of new life, born from a cosmic egg.... Or maybe he's just breakfast.

Here's mine. Fantastic entries here just wonderful to see how everyone is sooo different! Good luck everyone!
Hi, here's my final entry titled Rebirth. It's the story of a Zen master's journey through death to rebirth.
Hi Guys,
The work is metaphorical of how mankind is becoming over-reliant on technology. The idea was inspired by movies like Terminator and Eagle Eye - where in both we get a glimpse of a potential future it's man against the machine.
I hoped to create an environment that fuses machine and nature together. The setting takes place in a distant future at a production plant where men are given birth by cyber-organisms and mass-produced.
The creature at left represents technology and the characters are setup so that the viewers could vicariously place themselves in the girl's position where we experience the fear and despair of what the future holds in a tech-laden world. We are controlled by machines, not the other way around. This is a painting that hopefully serves a purpose to enlighten viewers.
Goodluck everyone! There are some amazing pieces here.![]()
good luck everyone. i'm definitely inspired by all the hard work being done here.
the first one with the egg shell i tried to give it a little mysterious moody feel.
the second one is Goddess Renenet, the goddess of childbirth she's wearing her symbols, a cobra headdress and the eternity symbol in her left hand. She's off to bless another child being born.
Waking Knock ~ Sometimes, all it takes is a grain of sand, in this case, it's a little bigger.

The Big Bang; Birth of the Universe.
This is my entry I had submitted for the Newborn contest. The concept was how artists bring their creations to life utilizing their own set of tools.

Here is mine one
So these were my entries.
They're both rather simple.
The first one is supposed to portray the dawn of a new day and was painted in photoshop.
The second is a Summoner calling a pack of wolves and was painted with watercolors.
There are so many amazing entries in this contest. I knew I didn't stand a chance from the beginning and I'm even more certain of that fact now.
Still, it was a fun contest to take part in and I learned some new things about my art.
Good luck to everyone!
Seen a few I really like here. Good luck to all.

My name is General Aurelius Denari, and I have always served the king. So it has come to pass that a great tragedy has befallen the kingdom. The king’s brother has slain him where he sleeps, taking his throne by force. It shames me to admit that I was powerless in stopping this, but perhaps all is not yet lost. His infant son bears the mark of kings. He is the rightful heir, and so my servitude is to him. Liberating him from the palace will prove to be a difficult task, but I shan’t fail him as I did his father. My name is General Aurelius Denari, and I shall always serve the king.
My entry: Newborn. Moonchild. Two children find out that there are magical beings that exist under the light of the full moon.

The is a representation of a baby being handled by an android midwife and labelled with a designated number in "androidenese" with the anklet. This is a world where humans are slaves to robots from birth. I focused on the baby and its emotions as it must be angry and afraid, and wanted to evoke strong feelings in the viewer. The baby is genetically modified to withstand intense ultraviolet light through android technology so it keeps its human appearance although it has android parts.
NOTE: I got an email from someone saying that they thought I had modified a photograph. This isn't the case-I drew this from scratch! I'm kinda flattered though that they thought it was a photograph!
If you want you can see how I drew it on here: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=164875
Hope you like, even though the ideas are somewhat sinister. Good luck everybody, the work on this thread is so beautiful!

These are a separate entry from the Little Droid Blue and should have been posted in a separate thread. My apologies. I'll refrain from pulling all nighters in future *hangs head*
The sculptures are a five piece narrative on the life cycle of part mammalian, part plant species of extra terrestrial. The meteorflowers start out as stamens on a planet (sculpture 1), grow out from these and branch off in order to find a new planet to inhabit(sculpture 2) . They then burn up in the atmosphere of the planet they are entering in order to self germinate (like the burning of australian forests in forest fires which allows new seed to begin to grow) (Sculpture 3) and then depending on the predominant genes in the flowers become either a giant flower that learns and adapts to the world around it, learning about the technology etc (sculpture 4) and if part mammalian, adapts to the form of the dominant life form on the planet. (the cyborg baby coming out of the flower with all the circuitboards around it).
All of the sculptures are temperature sensitive and UV reactive. Sculpture 4 has a centre that crackles like burning coal when subjected to temperatures above average room temperature.
All of the sculptures were hand made with silicon, wood, metal, copper and other materials.

This was such an awesome competition! Good luck everyone.
Here's mine.
