    Kolpar Sketchbook

Hello everybody, I've been lurking this place for a long time and now I finally am gonna make my own sketchbook.
I am a 17 year old aspiring artist from Iceland (Sorry for my bad English ), I would love to become a working concept artist but I understand that the road there is hard. This site gives me constant inspiritation! I would love comments and critiques.

These are some of my old studies.

Those anatomy studies are fantastic. You've got great control. My only crit, is in the second skeleton, there should be more of a gap between the ulna and the radius.

Really diggin' the look of the puppet face.
If you have the time, please stop by my sketchbook, Chock Full o'Nuts.
I would appreciate any advice or critiques.

Thank you for the comment DKHutcheson!
Hope I'm not updating this too often, not trying to bump my sketchbook up.
Is updating my sketchbook once a day alright?
Anyways here is my daily sketch

Update as often as you like. Bumping your sketchbook is a good thing, gets you noticed.

The studies look good overall, keep doing them. I think you have some minor proportion problems, which makes things look not quite right, use some measuring techniques to take out the kinks.

I also noticed a good grasp of using different line weights to emphasize certain elements over others, yet I am also curious how well you would fare without the lines.

My entire dsb, huh? a lot of images missing at the start I'm sure, as imageshack only holds them for a year after they were last seen. Thanks for dropping by

You have really good line control, those skeletons are drawn very nicely, try some more shading perhaps? Keep it up!

    You do very precise drawings.
    BUT
You aren't going to learn much about drawing figures from imagination by learning anatomy and rendering it precisely. You need to balance these anatomical studies with FORM studies. What I'm suggesting you do is open up an entire new wing (at least, new from what I've seen of your stuff) of study and learn it in concert with learning the muscles and the skeleton. Do gestures. Understand the large forms of the body and their 3 dimensionality. Being able to draw a boxy mannequin is the key to being able to draw the human figure. Precise anatomy is necessary to make it look right and convincing, but it's useless unless you can manipulate the forms from imagination.
A good example of this imbalance of knowledge that I'm perceiving is the last portrait. Everything's very precise, but the form of the skull is squished.
If you're already doing what I've suggested, then we aren't seeing enough. Pages and pages and pages of studies (mostly gestures and practice figures) are required to get even a good handling of human anatomy. Watch out for the size of your heads- you tend to draw them too small.

Thank you so much for the comment Craz.
I get what you mean and I think that's a great idea, I will start doing those. I do tend to squish or stretch things. Do you have any tips or tricks on doing those? That was really helpful
