Lightbulb NEWBORN - FINALS (Awakening of Anubis, Revelation)

    Here are my 2 entries.

    The Awakening of Anubis

A small group of treasure hunters break into an ancient and forgotten tomb in search of treasure that have only been dreamed of. There they find more gold and jewels than all of them combined thought existed. Mistaking this for the real treasures that remain hidden they start filling their sacks with as much as they can carry but in doing so they awaken the keeper of the tomb, Anubis, and those that have been curse to live in it for eternity. No one leaves with the gold.

The symbology for this piece, for me, is that the tomb resembles this world and the tunnel is the way out to the next world. The mummies/undead are those of us that worship material wealth in this world. The treasure hunters will soon see that one cannot take material possessions beyond the grave and that if they become a worshipper of the material world then they too will suffer the same curse that befell the mummies, they will die (spiritually). We come to this world as a blank canvas, we have experiences and gain certain attributes and qualities through those experiences. These are the only things we take with us when we leave. These are the real treasures.

    Revelation

This image took a lot out of me. But I think in the end it was worth it. It borrows heavily from eastern/middle eastern philosophy. It symbolises that moment in time when a Revelation is born into this world. When just for an instance “heaven” and earth meet and there is an explosion of life that resonates outwards long after that moment has passed.

I like how the composition looks on this picture. I'd love to see how this turns out.

    Lightbulb Anubis almost done

Almost finished Anubis. Just a few things to tweek here and there. These images should give a good idea of the style it will end up being in. I was going to go with an orientalist semi-realisting style but changed my mind. I will repaint this later in that style as it will take a lot longer. Critz welcome.

    Cool symbolism

Newborn - the god of death. Anubis.

One's birth is the other one's death. Perhaps some wetness dripping out of his mouth for seeing all that tasty humans

I like it! Cant wait to see it final.

Does Anubis have 4 fingers? I have no clue, but it gives him a bit of a cartoony look IMO.
That hole in the wall looks a bit out of place. The wall is made of this super huge and massive stone bricks, there is just no way the stones would break a hole of such shape.
Also it makes the wall look paper thin.

I really like that you have many characters in the scene, it’s fun to see what they all do.

    Cheers, good luck!

    Arrow Tomb almost done

Thanks for the coments guys and gals. It's been a very busy day. There is soooooooo much to do on this image but I'm getting there Well here is the tomb almost done. There are just a few things do do and they will most likely be done once some of the other characters are dropped in. I may add some heiroglyphs on the walls, at the same time have it empty makes it much more mysterious.

Just a thought, how thick is the sand? just because I would think Anubis would be fairly heavy and his feet would go at least a little way into the sand. Just a bit, he just dosn't really look attatched to the floor at the moment..... could just be me ^_^

This is looking very cool ^_^
