Well, here's some old work and recent sketches. Some of it is practicing with Loomis

sorry the pictures are all grey, I don't have a working scanner right now so it's all taking with my digital camera.

I really need help with the coloring..wah. NEed to details it more. SHe's supposed to be on the edge of a cliff and there's a canyon around them.. a waterfall on the left

do some more, and don't worry about the quality of the photo if you can't help it; just don't make it to bright (darker is better) cuzz otherwise we can't see the lines well!

you are doing a lot of studies, that's very nice -- the more I paint/draw and the more I understand that painting/drawing a lot is the only way to get better!

there are some great linearts in ur sketchbook, are u planning on shading em with some software? have a nice creative time!

You have some nice imaginative drawings in here. Don't feel bad about your age. I'm 24 and I'm just starting out. Hard work will sort it out.

I was planning to copy the same drawings from Loomis so I wanted to ask you: how do you approach your anatomy studies? I copy the drawings as carefully as I can, while saying the name of the body part while I am drawing it. This imprints a fairly solid mental image. Then I pin the drawing on the board in my room. That way I can't help looking at it a few times a day.

Hey there, there's never too old or too young an age to start on art. To add a picture next too your sketchbook title, all you need to do is to upload your pic from the computer, not using the IMG tag.

Your pencils are really better than mine by the way. I'm very sure you could benefit from this site like i have.

more update---don't even think i should be putting up these sketches...they're so blah

andrea.bianco-I'm not sure I'll be coloring the sketches...I'm just really lazy or I lose interest or not inspired by my drawings. But I'm glad you think some of my linearts are nice.

evandempsey- sorry for the late reply--I just copy the Loomis stuff as accurately as I can. However I've been really impatient with them, so these are not as accurate as I like. I think I should post my stuff on the wall and look at them too. Great idea! Thanks.

shamandalie- thanks for the comment on my sketchbook and telling me how to upload the pic...still trying to figure it out....gah

Wat up , just trying to holla back at you, I think you have some very nice (the creatures are niceee) and Your studies are right on track. I would suggest doing some tonal studies too to start upping your ante.

Hey what up

You should not put your self down,like that every sketch or study you do is going to pay off.Also it does not matter how old you are you just have to understand that you have one goal in mind and that's to be>(an Awesome Concept Artist or Artist in general).

But so far you dragon's are bad ass and they have great character to them and also do a lot more studies(I mean a lot).....Good luck!!(Update More also)

Tell me, and this is open to anyone, how well are we supposed to draw at 21?
are we already behind? is...is this a race?

You're doing very well on those muscle studies. In the picture of the girl fighting the monster, check the length of her neck, as well as the angle of her face. If her face was looking straight on like that, you wouldn't be able to see much of her neck.

Hi, your stuff isn't half bad. I like it very much.

To get a thumbnail, you have to use the Attachment Manager when you make a post. Edit your first post and "Go Advanced" and down the bottom you'll see the attachment manager.

PS. Heh, I was just doing those Loomis arm studies myself. Yours look sweet

It's got some really awesome tips for coloring things

Like for example depth/atmospheric fog causing stuff further back to be more desaturated/duller than foreground elements.

some more studies...
and worked on the wolf demon thing a little more...I think the colors make him look like he's an undead...or I just have problems with making things look richer...

hey thanks for posting in my sketchbook and thanks for being the First

Its good to see all these anatomy studies your doing, they will obviously help you alot, but just a suggestion about some of the studies of muscles and anatomy.

If your going to do a study of some muscles or part of the body from reference its important that you not only replicate what your looking at but try to 'really' understand it, loosen up with the study and dont be worried about going over the same lines again and again, that way through repetition the shape of the leg or whatever is more likely to stick in your mind.

Its really cool to see some of your more fantastical creatures displaying some nice anatomy, keep it up and im sure soon you will notice a difference.

prophet Thanks again for stopping by my sketchbook, I really appreciate it and thank you for the advice about the anatomy studies. I think I will try to just recopy the studies over and over until it sticks in my head. Your suggestion definitely works too.

thanks for checking out my sketchbook. you draw creatures like a friend of mine: keep at it! I like the anatomical studies that you're doing. It's something that I totally need to get into doing. You should also think about doing some anatomical breakdowns of animals.
