why is it that in painter 7 the 'undo' thing only undoes about 5 things, whereas in photoshop 7 you have that handy history thing so you can go right back. am i missing something in painter 7? i keep making mistakes and not being able to undo them!

Hi,
In Edit > Preferences > Undo, the number of Undo's can be set to a maximum of 32.
Be aware, though, that the higher the number, the more memory is used and this can slow down Painter's performance.
Try to use the lowest number you can get by with.
Another thing you can do (and should in any case) is to save your file frequently, and save in a numbered series. For instance:
waterfall01.rif
waterfall02.rif
waterfall03.rif
This will help if you either run out of Undo's or your RIFF file becomes corrupted. Then you can go back to the last saved version.
Saving Uncompressed is a good idea too, as it seems to help prevent corrupted RIFF files. To do this, be sure to check the Uncompressed box when saving.
Uncompressed files, naturally, are quite a bit larger than the default compressed RIFF files, so you might want to back them up on CD or other storage media if you don't have enough hard drive space.
Please do not PM me with Painter questions. Instead, post them here where everyone can benefit from them. Thanks!
