    We

So here is my piece for the contest:

Critique is very welcome. Let me know what you think, feel and what doesn't work.

I really wanted to play with composition, religion, symbols and the sub-conscious so I made everything line up to tell a story from this particular angle.

I feel it is at a stage where it is almost finished, just needs some more detail added and a few things rendered out a bit better.

I really like the way you drew it, and the composition is good too. However were it not for your explanation, all I would see is a guy getting his pants pulled down and not minded all too much.

I can definitely see the religious theme behind it. Like any other art, clues in the picture tell you what it is about, you just have to know what you're looking at.

This is a great satirical take on the ideologies of religion and the scepticism of non-believers (not that I am a believer myself) the concept of which can be described as nothing other than brilliant!
I agree though, it just needs a bit more rendering and you're there.

nice job on the concept. you just have to work it out and finish the picture the only thing i could say is that when Jesus was crusified the nails that went through his wrists damage a tendon which hold the thumbs up. when that tendon was damaged his thumbs closed into the palm. I would really love to see the finished work.

i like the image , its good, great idea too.
The guy has a bit goofy look on his face, i think that takes away a lot.

nice painting, but without explanation most os us wouldn't be able to recognise any significance. what's that blak & white pole behind him mean, if it is a pole.

Liffey: Thanks so much for the crit. I've had other people go straight to that conclusion as well. I'm in two minds about changing it because for some reason I think it's funny how some people take it. On the other hand, moving the hands so they are more shirt grabbing may help reinforce the piece. I have some thinking to do.

SOOPERMAN: I agree sooperman, ultimately I'd love it if this piece could communicate exactly what I wanted to say to anyone and everyone. Like on a sub-concious level. Thanks for the comment.

d00dlebug: Cheers. I'm glad some people are getting it.

WOMD: Yeah finishing a piece for me is always the hardest part. Thanks for the info on the crucifixion. I'd like to keep the thumbs up so the hands and pose also communicate an openess or accepting to what he's being told/thinking.

R a n d i s: Thanks man. I found the face a bit hard to put across what I wanted. He's supposed to be relaxed, looking up at the light, with a smirk/happy look on his face. Like he finally gets it and is now at peace.

miycko: It's really good to here your opinion. It's opened my eyes to the fact that everyone take on it is different. The pole behind is a zebra crossing light. I used that to give a reality to the halo behind his head.

    Keep the critique coming.

I like the religious funny touch in this even without reading the description ^^
But I am worried about the way he is standing. Is he leaning on the pole ? Or is he falling back and just hold by the people ?

Vaejoun - He's falling back, i wanted him in an awkward sort of pose.

Thanks everyone for the crits. They helped a lot. I have taken a lot of them on board and made decisions that I think work best for the piece.
