    Question Bendragon - The Godsend

Okay okay I've been thinking and sketching this in secrecy. Thought its about time to make effort official now. The idea started off as an idea of a modern messiah being brought into the world. Originally it was going to be a few space explorers stumbling upon an alien shrine where the baby is born. That is the first sketch. The second one is the one I am working on now. So I guess sketch #1 is abandoned.

Agreed. The second one has much better composition and fills the picture plane much better.

Okay............... I started to hate the painting as I was working on it so decided to scrap that and restart with a new composition.

indeed, its as if he is sitting on a basketball

also your chicks mouth needs to curve around the face instead of just being diagonally placed within her facial structure.....

I think you could probably easily fix the hand thing in photoshop by just cutting her hands and moving them inwards....

but you could also (since hte child is alienesque) create extra mass on the childs body down there by giving a form of a tail wrapped around, and then maybe poking out at the bottom...

    anyway, nice sketches

Thanks for the pointers guys Yeah, that bum was looking pretty big. I repositioned the hand, dunno if its enough but I can always move it hehe. I will most likely work on the face and lips more too. Thanks for the critique, heres some more encouragement...

the hand still has to move...

look at where the babies back is. If you follow that line down, you eventually hit the but and then the leg. so the hand would be either supporting the weight of him

by being under his bum, or around his bum and then kind of holding on to the leg.

Look up pictures of poeple holding kids.

or pick up a sack of potatoes and hold it as she is and take a picture.

anyway, keep going, really like this

I like how this is looking so far. I think it's interesting how you use a variety of colors to make this.

Cheers guys! I tried to fix up the hand but had troubles with that... ach!

Okay... The idea is meant to be a woman giving birth to a demon. Kind of like Rosemary's baby. But he isn't entirely evil just because he was born the way he is. So is this child really a Godsend or a false messiah?

the ripple around his hand is pretty captivating. I really like the frame idea, but I'd like to see it taken further, and get some medeival art approach evident in the painting and the gilded frame (or romanesque/gothic/renaissance/baroque if you prefer).
