I really like your style. The forms are very good and I love your portraits. The clothing is also very believable.

I'm not so sure about the last one, but overall really good job man. I'd love to learn how to paint faces like that. My style is still very cartoon-ish unfortunately.

yo man those portraits are nice. I reckon you could make them even better by starting with a slightly coloured background. The grey from your current backgrounds kind of leeches in and turns your colours muddy.

Can you please post process shots, or explain your method, your rendering has such a beautiful quality to it? It seems that all your pics have a very dark light source, it might be cool to see some more experimenting, but I still love these pieces the way they are

    thanks again guys :]

hala: I don't really have any process shot at the moment, buy I'll make a note and try to save some down next time.
As far as the process, I'm concerned with three things though out the whole thing. Drawing, value and edges.
The drawing is no doubt the most important thing and ties into both values and edges. I often keep my drawing quite simple, but correct. A few correct lines is better than many uncorrect ones (obviously .

I often lay down the darkest dark first and try to really nail the areas with high contrast first, since these are the areas that's going to be seen first. I don't necessarely push the darks all the way on the first go, I try to keep all the values correct relative to eachother. I think that's really the key to the understanding of values (they are relevant to eachother, if you suddenly change the background value there's a chance that the other values has to be changed aswell)

Edges are the most fun in a painting because it lets me decide what edges i want to keep and what edges i can loose.

As far as color, I'm not going to give any advice cause i don't really understand it myself. But i guess it's the same as values, they are relative to eachother. I mostly think of it in terms of temprature, and always keeping in mind what the local color is (i.e, is this jacket green or is it blue?)

But I always make the drawing the top priority. If something isn't drawn right, our out of place, no values or edges are going to save me ^^

Hope it made some sense :]

here's a quick sketch of a tree from tonight. not correct in any sense, but it was fun to just skrew around with paint :]

Thanks so much for writing that out
The tree has a really nice abstract, fluid feel to it. Even though it's not "correct", you can still tell what it is while some interesting things happen through out the piece.

    Great stuff here! Excellent portraits.
Maybe, you could put some more contrast in the shadows inside the faces.
But of course, just a little bit and just as a test.
    Congratulations for the great work.
