his thumb, where the bridge is, looks really really nice. That's the kind of richness you should go for with the rest of the giant. You put a nice reflected light on the edges, and that can be everywhere (darker with distance, but still there). Your tones in the river look really nice, I love the subtle ripples in the light on the bottom. You're approaching photo realism in some places, but the metal isn't matching that- I'd paint over the trees a little bit if you need to, they stand out as too different from the rest of the painting. The only other thing I think you're missing is deeper shadows on the city. They still look a bit pasted on, just throw an overlay on there and bring in the blues from underneath the giant. Oh, and your shadows under the trees look really nice, cool diffuse. It's come a long way, you're almost done!

The trees just look too real in comparison with everything else. if you just lightly brushed over them to make it look more painterly, it will blend in more with the rest of the pic. You need a little reflected light on the bottom of the metal on the giant, coming from the grass. it shouldn't go completely dark in shadow, you should see a faint outline of a grey green.

i know how you feel about so much to do. I feel like I haven't stopped working on mine for a month and yet theres still so much left! Good luck!

it's all right about the green radiosity ,i've planned to do that at the last moment
i thought there was a problem with the rendering of the metal.
i agree on the trees anyway...
    thanks!

thanks,i always try to go for a middlepoint between a painting and a photo...

i want to thank all the people here that took the time to criticise and correct my attempt and helped me to make it better!
this was my first challenge ever and anyway ,i'm only doing illustrations for a couple of months now ;so i still have a lot to learn (don't we all?

i was doing 3D before for a living but it's not fun anymore...
    ...while painting is great!!

    take care everyone and peace!

That's really good. I was planning on doing the same as now I can see loads more wrong with mine. Time is a great thing if you have it in abundance - good that you got just as you wanted.
